Farm safety
TORONTO - By taking the time
to perform simple safety precau-
tions, farmers can greatly reduce the
risk of farm machinery accidents.
At this time of year, farmers fre-
quently use loader attachments on
their tractors - quick attach loader
buckets. spikes to move round bales
of hay and straw, and manure forks.
But if these attachments aren't prop-
erly secured or maintained, fanners
may he putting themselves and
those around them at risk.
Safety precautions take only sec-
onds. Some quick attach loader
equipment uses wedge type locks
which are held in place with hair-
pin clips. If these clips arc not in
place, the wedges can hecome dis-
lodged, re =acing the attachment •
backwards onto the operator.
