Harvest Day hlghflghts
Perth County farms
STRATFORD - Get out of town
for the day on Sunday, October I.
Take the entire family and tour tra-
ditional and non-traditional farms
and businesses in Perth County.
Farms include a beef operation, a
dairy farm, a farm featuring Barba-
dos Blackbelly sheep and Angora
goats, and an apple farm plus a
farm equipment dealership and the
Stratford Perth Museum. Farms
will be open to the public from 10
a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The cost is $5
per vehicle for a tremendous day in
the county.
Again this year, the route for Har-
vest Day will be a mystery until
you pick up your passports at the
original Stratford Mall, the new
Zeller's Mall in Listowel, or Staf-
fens in Mitchell. Passports are
available after 10 a.m. on Sunday,
October 1, look for the tractors.
The passport will include a route
map as well as information on all
of the participating farms and agri-
businesses.
Throughout the day, the Strat-
ford -Perth Museum will have work-
ing displays of machinery from
days past for all to enjoy. At the
beef farm, the Perth County Cattle-
men's Association will be holding
a beef barbecue and there will be
samples for tasting throughout the
tour.
There will be lots of opportunity
to have your questions answered by
those who own and operate these
farms so vital to Perth County.
The Perth County Community
Development Agri -tourism Com-
mittee and the Perth Federation of
Agriculture, in conjunction with
Tourism Stratford are jointly spon-
soring this second Annual Perth
County event. •
The day is an opportunity to see
the newest techniques in agriculture
and agricultural equipment. Bring
the entire family and "Get out of
town" for the day. For more infor-
