Civic painting clarification
EXETER - Last week's article on the latest Shirley Perry civja ting
requires one point of clarification. i
The old railway station depicted in the first painting by Perry, 'Exeter -
A Scenic Tour', was not destroyed but rather re -located to Grand Bend.
We regret any confusion this may have caused.

Between 6 p.m. on Friday, September 1 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday,

A trailer with two motocross bikes was stolen from the parking lot

Ailsa Craig UCW hold
September meeting
AILSA CRAIG - The theme for
the September meeting of the Ail-
sa Craig United Church Women
was looking back to the activities
of the past summer and forward to
the fall.
This meeting was held in the
Sunday School room of the church
with Margaret Wilson in charge of
the worship, program and lunch. it
was suggested to keep in mind this
quote 'Nothing great was ever
achieved without enthusiasm'. The
scripture reading dealing with faith
and actions was taken from James
chapter 2.
Several little stories were read
from the Goose Story. One lesson
is "People who share a common
direction and sense of community
can get where they are going more
quickly and easily because they
are travelling on the trust of one
another."
An excerpt from Happier Living
by Phyllis Mitchell told that one's
mind is far more wonderful than
any computer and can be pro-
gramed with faith principles and
positive thinking.
Because turtle races are held in
the village during the summer a de-
votional reading entitled Consider
the Turtle was read. Life is not
meant to be lived in a shell - by a
turtle or by a person. God meant
for us to take risks; faith is the
Bible word. The last story was tak-
en from a book called Who Put All
These Cucumbers in My Garden?
After each person told how she
had spent the summer, a car contest
was presented with Mary Suther-
land and Jean Maguire as winners.
Mary Sutherland then presided
for the business meeting beginning
with the UCW Purpose. Birthday
cards, get well cards, and sympathy
cards had been sent by the Commu-
nity Outreach Convener. The quilt-
ing group are working on crib
quilts. Anyone interested in quilt-
ing is invited to join the group. Af-
ter the formal meeting the group
gathered around the table for some
lunch and fellowship. The next Ali-
as Craig UCW meeting will be
held on October 10 at 7:30 p.m. in
the Sunday School room.
