The 1999 International Plowing Match will be held in Hay Township on the farm of Earl and
Bonnie Becker, just north of Dashwood on the Bronson Line. Above, Huron's representative on
the Ontario Plowmen's Association Neil McGavin and Huron President Paul Betties congratu-
late Earl Becker. At right is John Becker of Dashwood who has participated in a number of
IPM's.
HayTownship 1999 IPM
Dashwood - It took the site com-
mittee of the Ontario Plowmen's
Association almost two hours to de-
cide where the 1999 International
Plowing Match would be held in
Huron county.
The news was good for Hay
township farmer Earl Becker and
his wife Bonnie and son Michael. It
will be held on their farms at Lots 4
and 5 on Concession 13 of Hay
township. The location is one mile
north of Dashwood on the Bronson
Line which is a paved road.
In making the announcement,
Huron's representative on the Onta-
rio Plowmen's Association Neil
McGavin said a number of other
sites were in contention. Placing
second was Joe Semple's Grey
township farm in the Brussells area.
Also in the running were two loca-
tions in the Grand Bend area.
The geographical location of the
Becker farm was one of the reasons
for the decision. McGavin added,

"The fact the Becker farm is locat-
ed closer to larger centres than the
Grey township site was a factor.
Also, the availability of accommo-
dation was taken into consideration
with Grand Bend, Exeter, Bayfield
and Goderich not far away."
'McGavin concluded, " The exec-
utive also probably leaned to the
Becker site because the south part
of the county has yet to be host for
the IPM while the north has had the
popular event on three previous oc-
casions."
At the recent Huron county plow-
ing match only a few hours after
hearing the announcement, Earl
Becker said, "We can't describe our
feelings. It's a tremendous honor.
Even the neighbours are excited."

HDC CONTINUES
EXPANSION IN
EDIBLE BEAN
INDUSTRY
THE BUSINESS OF BEANS
The 1995 bean crop will be the second year that
beans have been processed in our $2,000,000
bean processing facility. With the high quality
"field run" beans delivered by Ontario
producers in 1994, the plant was able to meet
and exceed the demanding quality
specifications established by our customers.
Demand is high for the proven quality of beans
from our new processing system.
In September, HDC will complete a new $1,500,000 speciality bean receiving, drying and storage facility.
We look forward to being a new partner in the speciality bean industry and to play an integral role of
upgrading producer deliveries to meet our customers' high quality standards.
Help'support these new initiatives by delivering your beans to an HDC receiving elevator. We guarantee
fast, friendly service, fair grades and honest weights.
(UBLY HARD -SURFACED BEAN KNIVES are available at our Hensall location)
