soccer team. The Cent lost 4-2 to the German -Canadian
soccer club from London on Sunday. Brian Brand and
George McEwan scored for Exeter.
Imperials eliminated
EXETER - Exeter imperials were
eliminated from their Ontario Jun-
ior Men's Fasthall League 'B' divi-
sion semi-final series with Mitchell
Chiefs in three straight games as
they dropped a 9-4 decision in
Mitchell last Thursday.
. For the second straight game, Ex-
eter built up an early lead only to
sec it evaporate due to shoddy
fielding and an experienced Mitch-
ell offence.
The imperials jumped to a 3-0
lead in the second inning as Chris
McDonald led off with a single and
scored on a triple by pitcher Steve
Cook. Steve Farquhar followed
with a run scoring single and later
scored on a fielder's choice.
After Mitchell narrowed the gap
to 3 to 2 in the bottom of the sec-
ond, Greg Dalrymple led off the
third inning with a long horns run
to improve the margin to 4-2.
Mitchell then scored a run in the
fourth and two runs in the fifth to
take a 5-4 lead and added four
more runs in the sixth, three of
which were unearned. Scan
McCann, Glenn Hines and Jeremy
Mason also added hits 10 round out
the Exeter offence.
Losing pitcher Steve Cook went
the distance, allowing nine runs,
five earned, on six hits. Cook
struck out 12. walked two and also
hit a batter.
The Imperials played the second
game of their best of three
W.O.A.A. playoff series with
Shakespeare last night with Shake-
speare leading the series 1 to 0.
The imperials over-all regular
season, playoff and exhibition
record was eight wins, 11 losses
and two tics. They were among the
youngest teams in the league with
eight players still eligible to com-
pete at the midget level. No players
will go over -age in 1996.
Thc foundation is now in place
for a successful Junior Fasiball
team in Exeter for a number of
years.
