The completed building will house the new town offices and council chambers. "The project is going well. Overall things are proceeding on schedule," said Dave Moyer, chief building official. The building itself went up without any serious problems and last week work began on the inside of the structure including drywailing and taping. The windows installed in the addition mimic the shape and style of the original design. Moyer said the only hold-up has been the de- livery of the elevator which will probably delay the anticipated completion date by as much as a month. The rest of the work however, is going smoothly. The addition and renovations are expected to he fin- ished by mid-October. E Your Views Letters to the editor EMHA matches pledge Dear Editor: On behalf of the members of Ex- eter Minor Hockey, we the execu- tive would like to respond to Tom McCann's challenge to the Rec. Board. Many of our hockey players have grandparents, parents and siblings who at one time or another have been unable to attend a hockey game due to the lack of a warm and comfortable room to watch the game from. Our arena is a central gathering centre for many people in Exeter and area and it would be nice to know that access to this fa- cility would be open to all of our spectators despite any physical or health restrictions. In memory of Pauline McCann the E.M.H.A. Executive would like to match Tom McCann's pledge and challenge to the Rec Board. A committee should be organized to make sure our pledges arc not giv- en in vain and a warm room is con- structed as soon as possible. Sincerely, 1995-96 E.M.H.A. Capsule Comments with Ernie Miatello For those of you who are watching your fat intake, take a look at your milk. If you are using 2% milk, it has 2% fat by weight of milk... that's 20gm of fat per litre. You can cut your intake in half by using 1% or even more by using skim milk. Also, it's difficult•to control fat intake when eating out in a fast food out- let. One of the best choices for low fat content is a grilled chicken sand- wich. With tomato and lettuce, it keeps the grams of fat down and tastes good as well! (But go lightly on the mayo!) In England recently, the government did a survey of people's medicine cabinets to see how much unused medication they had on hand. Extrap- olated results of 2000 homes showed that 150 tons of medication worth tens of millions of pounds are wasted each year. Instilling eye drops in children can be a chore. Try the "closed eye" method. Lay the child down and close his eyes. Place a drop on the in- ner corner of the eyelid then have the child open his eyes and the drop should fall in. This works quite well with children of all ages. HURON APOTHECARY Ltd.
