Weekend of fun planned
for youth at Zurich Fair
ZURICH - If there is to be a future in farming,
we'll need the youth of today! Our Youth - Our
Farms - Our Future.
There is a weekend of fun
planned for those young people at
the Zurich Fair July 21, 22 and
23. It all starts Friday night at
7:30 p.m. with the "Happiest
Kids' Show Going"•put on by
Richard Knechtel. Adults $3, ages
5-12 $l, pre-school free. You will also
see the 1995 "Ambassador of the Fair" Competition
and be able to participate in the "Jr. Prince and
Princess Competition". (Call Sylvia Neeb 236-4042
to pre -register).
Older "kids" will enjoy the Fair Dance. "Red
House" will get the place rocking at 9:30 p.m. Tick-
ets $5 advance $6 at door.
We encourage you to join in the Parade on Satur-
day. Line up at Zurich Public School at Noon for •
this fun event which starts at 12:30 p.m. You can
win prizes for the Best Theme Float, Costumes,
Bikes, Vehicles, etc. Join in!
Then it's off to the Fairgrounds for the Midway,
horse show, and livestock display. The Petting Zoo,
organized by Joan Van Slightenhorst is sure to be
popular again! This year, the rest of the events will
be held on the ice surface. The Pet Show, open to
all ages and organized by Peggy of Pet Lover's
Grooming, will begin right after the parade. There
are categories with prizes and ribbons for dogs, cats
and any other pet you may have. We ask that they
arrive there on a leash or in a kennel for their pro-
tection.
From 2-3 p.m. you have the opportunity to be ar-
tistic. Create your own design on a t -shirt (using the
theme of the Fair) which you then get to take home
as memento of your day. For $3 each, your whole
family will have fun making personal clothing to
enjoy for the rest of the summer! While you're
waiting for it to dry, have your face painted , or par-
ticipate in or watch the Mini Tractor Pull organized
by Mark Taylor. Registration begins at 2:30 and the
wheels start flying at 3:00! Top it all off with a hot
dog from the Ag. Society Food Booth and you're
laughing.
