WI members sitend function in Milton Muriel Lewis GRANTON - Several members from the Granton churches enjoyed the St. Patrick's CWL supper and entertainment held in the school gym on Wednesday evening June 14. Thirty-five hundred WI members from across the province attended the Women's Institute Centennial Prelude Barbecue and quilt show held on Wednesday, June 14 on the spacious grounds of the Ontario Agriculture Museum at Milton. Granton WI members Norah Wis- sel, Elsie Dan and Muriel Lewis went on the North Middlesex bus from Ilderton and thoroughly en- joyed the the lovely occasion. On Sunday, June 18, 4:30 p.m. the closing service of thanksgiving was held for the life of the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Gran- ton. It was the 67th anniversary in the present church and 112 years as a congregation. The Rt. Rev. C. Robert Town- shend was the celebrant, assisted by Rev. Stephen Emery and Paul Acres as liturgical assistant. The lessons were read by Muriel Lewis and Olive Hodgins. In his message the Bishop spoke of the ministry of the early church which has been passed on from the Apostles. The invitation of Jesus Christ to follow Him is still open, listen to God's voice and serve Him wherever you are. The congregation paid tribute to Rev. Stephen Emery for the past four years of his ministry in a pres- entation made by Rector's Warden Muriel Lewis and alternate peo- ple's Warden John Herbert. In conclusion the Bishop read the Sentence of De -consecration of the church building as such and a time of fellowship followed. At the Granton United Church on Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes sermon topic was Family Resem- blance based on lessons from 1st Kings 21, Galatians 2 and Luke 7. Macauley Matthew Pafford, son of Michael and Darlene (Clarke) Pafford, was welcomed into the church by baptism. His brother Austin helped prepare the font. UCW The general UCW meeting was held at the United Church on Tues- day evening, June 13 commencing with a dessert tea served by Unit three members. The guest speaker was Anne Pin - Seniors potluck EXETER - Seniors met in Legion Hall at 6 p.m. for their pot luck din- ner for their June 5 regular meeting. There was a very good turnout and the meal. was super as always. President Marion opened the meeting at 7 p.m. and thanked all who helped arrange the table for the meal as well as make the tea and coffee. 0 Canada was sung fol- lowed by the Lords Prayer. Birthday greetings were sung to Lila and Ken Ellis, Ruth Skinner, Isa Smith and Ruby Beaver. Anniversary greetings were sung to Or and Lorraine Webber, Ruth and Humphrey Arther, Ruby Bea- vers, sorry Harry, we missed you - however congratulations. Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted seconded by Ted Wright. Treasurer's report was giv- en and adopted seconded by Dean Smith. A number of the club went to Huronview for a barbecue on June 9. Everyone enjoyed the enter- tainment. Villa Bingo for June are Ted and Shirley Wright and Humphrey and Ruth Arthur. We thank those who do participate. Seniors have a bus trip to Gerital Follies on June 16. The bus leaves the Exeter Legion lot at 9 a.m. Trip to Drayton on August 3 to see show Out of Order bus leaves Legion lot at 8'30 a.m., cost $51.00. A very few tickets left. Hurry if in- terested , it should be a nice day. Trip for September to Deer Lodge for three days September 12,13, 14, Severak seats are already booked.
