"And we have a winner..." Darin Dick from Seaforth enjoys cleaning up at country fairs with his killer arm and perfect aim.
Hensall Spring Fair
HENSALL - With the sun shin-
ing, kids smiling, and the new Am-
bassador of Hensall waving, how
could this year's Hensall Fair be
anything but a raving success?
"Seems to me, the feedback from
everyone says that they thought we
had a good number of patrons this
year," said Anne Mousseau, a
member of the Hensall Farm
Board. The fair was Friday evening
and Saturday.
This year's theme was Horsin'
Around, and horses were a big part
of this year's fair.
There were horse shows through-
out both days which, "attracted an
excellent number of participants,"
said Mousseau.
The fair also offered the kids a
variety of midway rides, which had
been missing from last year's event.
The crowning of the Ambassador
of Hensall on Friday night was a
tearful event as Anne Kerslake
passed on the title to Melissa Tim-
mermans for 1995/96. Janet Tra-
quair won for Miss Congeniality.
The fair also hosted a photo con-
test with several different cat-
egories. The categories were: New
Beginnings, Days End, and Horsin'
Around. The first place winners
were Barb Power, Herman Van-
Wieren, and John Power, re-
spectively.
Many service clubs helped out
with different booths and attrac-
tions. For example, the Hensall
Optimists hosted a "Three Smashes
for a buck", where people could
take a swing at an old station wag-
on with a sledge hammer.
Helen Johns, recently elected
MPP for Huron County and Paul
Steckle, MP, also attended the
event and took part in the festiv-
ities.
"I think this must have been Hel-
en's first official function," said.
Mousseau.
While "there is always room for
improvement," Mousseau said that
the fair had good success this year.

takes three good whacks at the old car. The booth was

gier, (below) saddles up for a quick spin around the pony
ride with the help and support of Kelly Regier.

show. Melissa Timmermans (left) says her thanks after be-
ing crowned Ambassador of Hensall 1995/96.
Members of Hensall's Minor Hockey Association (bottom

travelled down Main St., while Nathan Kinsman (bottom

pull on Friday night.
