Hensall Spring Fair
starts up again this Fri-
day, and promises to be
fun for everyone. The fol-
lowing seven women are
contestants for Ambassa-
dor of the Spring Fair,
and the winner will be
chosen Friday night.

a good crowd from St. Patrick's at-
tended 'the anniversary service at
St. Paul's, Kirkton, and enjoyed the
social time together in the Parish
hall following the service.
Sunday, June 11 Rev. Stan ?ay
will be officiating at the Holy Com-
munion service at St. Patrick's at
11:00 a.m.
St. Patrick's A.C.W. are meeting
in the Parish Hall on Tuesday eve-
ning June 6 for their June meeting
to pack the bale for their prayer
partner.

Victoria Hospital, London.
Sunday afternoon Margaret Car-
roll, Suzanne Davis, Crystal and
Starr and Hazel Davis attended the
bridal shower at Centralia Commu-
nity Centre honouring Mary Walk-
er, a member of St. Patrick's,
whose wedding will take place lat-
er this month.
Starr Davis assisted with the gifts
for the bride. Following the bride's
thank you, everyone enjoyed the
lunch and time together.
Recent visitors with Mary Davis
were cousins Helen MacDonald,
Marion Noels and Bessie Caldwell.
The Davis's have returned home
from a holiday in Virginia attend-
ing the Norfolk by the Sea Bush
Bash '95, the 30th event in the on-
going program. Most events were
centred around the Lake Wright
Resort and Convention Centre with
an excellent number of tours. There
was a tour of the harbour and the
Norfolk Naval Base, the largest in
the world. They met many new
people and visited with old friends.
Congratulations to Harley Davis,
a second place trophy winner in the
60 cc Pee Wee division at Farring-
ton Hills Raceway at Barrie on Sat-
urday.
Get well wishes to Caleb Mac-
Gillivray who broke his arm last
week.

Shipka resident attends nursing reunion
50 years ago, Mabel Fraser was a nursing
graduate of Victoria Hospital.

SHIPKA - Mabel Fraser recently attended a 50th anniversary nursing
class reunion. She graduated from Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in
1945, along with 52 other nurses. Twenty-two attended a luncheon at the
nurse's residence where they had lived from 1942-45. A 1960 graduate, a
nursing co-ordinator, gave a talk and showed a video about present day
Victoria Hospital. Also attending was a former instructor who is 92 years
old, a graduate of 1926. After a tour of the hospital and many memories,
they had dinner at the Lamplighter Inn.
The Shipka community congratulates Harold and Doreen Finkbeiner,
celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month.
Melvin and Gerrie Stade, accompanied by Harold and Ruth Stire of
Dashwood, visited friends Ken and Jean Clarke, Sunday at Dresden.
Hugh and Annie Morenz, accompanied by Hugh's three sisters, Hazel
Corbett, Marjorie Adams, and Blanche Chapman, attended the wedding
Saturday, May 27, of their great niece, Cheri Morenz, daughter of Ernest
and Ann Morenz, of London. Sister of the bride, Michelle Morenz, was
maid of honour.
The wedding was held at the Chapel of Hope in London, with a recep-
tion for more than 100 guests at the Duchess of Kent Hall. The bride is the
granddaughter of the late Roy and Eileen Morenz. Ernest Morenz attended
Blackbush school in this area.
Marg Baker's son and daughter -iii -law Elliot and Kathleen Clarke, have
moved from Winnipeg to the Stephen twp. B line.
Earl and June Rader recently welcomed their first grandson, a boy born
to their son and daughter-in-law David and Julie Rader, of Lake Simcoe
area.
Cadets under inspection
21st Annual inspection parade ends cadet training year
HURON PARK -June 1, marked
the 21st Annual Inspection and the
end of another training year for the
2,923 Royal Canadian Army Cadet
Corps.
The annual parade in Huron Park
was formed under the command of
Company Sergeant Major, Warrant
Officer Joshua Bailey before being
turned over to Cadet commanding
Officer, Master Warrant Officer
Carrie Kapp.
Comrade Bill Wilds of Crediton
representing the Exeter Branch of
the Royal Canadian Legion led the
reviewing party accompanied by
Assessing officer from the Re-
gional Cadet Detachment, Petty Of-
ficer Derek Tawse-Smith.
The Annual Inspection Parade
was followed by demonstrations of
parade drills, rifle drills, a tug-of-
war contest and static displays.
The highest honour went to Mas-
ter Corporal J. Mawdsley who re-
ceived Top Cadet Award.
Other awards presented to the ca-
dets were: Most Improved Cadet,
Lcpl J. Collin, Senior Esprit De
Corps, MCPL L. Smith, Junior Es-
prit De Corps, Lcpl K. Wegg, Pla-
toon Commanding Officer and Act-
ing WO B.L. Snell, Section
Commander, Mcpl W. Rolling, Top
Green Star, S. Dudleigh, Top Red
Star, J. Collin, Top Silver Star, J.
Dudleigh, NSCE, L. Smith, P. In-
gram, T. Maxwell, J. Mawdsley,
and attendance awards, W. Ingram,
C. Kapp, J. Bailey, P. Ingram, W.
Rollings, A. Werrett, J. Dudleigh,

The cadets, led by Captain Allen
Cottel and Lt. Kim Cottel meet
Thursdays at the Huron Park Rec-
reation Hall.
The Cadet program is a four year
course culminating with a National
Star Certification Exam in the
fourth year. This exam tests both
acedemic and physical skills. This
year 85 cadets participated from
our region and approximately 30
passed. Master Corporal Jason
Maudsley from 2,923 earned high-
est score.
During the past 12 months, the
cadets have participated in several
training and service exercises based
on knowledge and skills learned
during the training year.

Theft on
Main Street
EXETER - A wallet was sto-
len from a van parked on Main
street on Sunday afternoon.
The van was parked near the
PUC building.
