On Wednesday, the Fury were in- volved in a very close game with Bosnia that ended on a last second goal by the home team. The Fury jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Josh Vcrmeulen as he made a nice play to head the ball in. Bosnia tied the game and then took the lead in the second half on a low shot to the corner. The Fury were awarded a free kick from just outside the box where Jeff Lingard scored on an excellent shot under the bar. Shortly after, Dan Martens just missed putting the Fury ahead when his shot was deflected wide by the keeper. The game stayed 2-2 until a Bosnian player broke away from the Exeter defense and beat goalie Ryan Hern on the last play of the game. Sunday, the Fury had their best player turnout of the year and the depth helped as the Fury were all over the Scottish team. The Scot- tish, formerly known as St. George's, were not able to combat Exeter's overall team speed as the Fury players had many breakaways during the game. Pete McAllister and Jeff Lingard were the top snipers for Exeter as McAllister notched four and Lin- gard added three goals of his own. Two of McAllister's goals carne as he burst in from the right side and picked the corner of the net cleanly. The Fury led 3-0 at the half and didn't let up in the secppnd half. Lin- gard was one of rhany Exeter players that found himself in all alone with the defenseless Scottish goalie. The keeper could only watch as Lingard deked around him and fired the ball into the empty net on a couple of occasions. The Fury did not allow the Scottish team to mount much offense as Greg Lam- port and Mark Lynn played strong games on defense. Randy MacDon- ald picked up the shutout. The next action for the Fury is Friday in Ingersoll.
