Marcel Beaubien
PC candidate - Lambton
The citizens of Ontario are facing
a crisis. I believe that the Progres-
sive Conservative party will be able
to resolve that crisis with a majority
government in the upcoming pro-
vincial election.
Consider the crisis we face:
Job losses, plant cutbacks, the ris-
ing cost of the level of unemploy-
ment and social assistance. We des-
perately need jobs - jobs - jobs.
I have been troubled by these re-
alities. I fear for the future of our
children and grandchildren.
I want to do something about it.
I now have the time, the experi-
ence and the dedication to commit
myself to our common vision and
task.
After secondary education in
Quebec, I received a Bachelor of
Arts Degree from the University of
Guelph. I was trained and em-
ployed as a medical technologist
and for the past 25 years I have op-
erated a general insurance broker -
Jim Hopper
FCP candidate - Lambton
I am committed to restoring'pub-
lic confidence, credibility, and ac-
countability to Ontario politics, so
people can be assured that MPPs
are more accountable to the electo-
rate.
In order to accomplish this, the
FCP will introduce Legislative Re-
call, so the voters of each riding can
petition for the removal from office,
their MPP, if they do not carry
through on their election promise.
The FCP will introduce Referen-
dum Ballots so voters can vote on
issues of vital concern, like tax in-
creases, thereby ensuring their
voices are represented in Queens
Park, and not just the party in pow-
er.
We will push for more free votes,
to allow MPPs to vote per their
voters wishes, without fear of
bringing down the government.
We will legislate a balanced bud-
get, so MPPs cannot over spend,
and create an even greater tax bur -
Larry O'Neill
Liberal candidate - Lambton
Larry O'Neill, the Liberal Candi-
for the Lambton Riding, has a
cpm inaaion of strong municipal'
experience and community involve-
ment. O'Neill was Warden of
Lambton County in 1989 and May-
or/Reeve of Enniskillen Twp. for
nine years. He has held leadership
positions in the Enniskillen Parks
and Recreation Committee, the St.
Clair Parkway Commission and the
Sarnia Lambton United Way.
O'Neill is a Contract Advisor and
Farmer and is married with two
children. Among his personal
Dona Stewardson
NDP candidate - Lambton
In the worst recession in 60 years,
Bob Rae made some hard choices
about developing Ontario's Econo-
my - those tough decisions were
made in order to save jobs, hold the
line on the deficit and maintain es-
sential services.
Bob Rae knew that the only way
to put Ontario back to work was to
create an investment climate. Here
in Lambton, over $70 million has
gone to expand and upgrade our
water, sewer and road systems,
creating jobs as well as an invest-
ment climate for Lambton to build
on. This happened all across Onta-
rio - in Lambton alone - we saw
over $100 million in business in-
vestment in the past couple of
years.
And in hard times - Bob Rae's
government was able to deliver, in
1994, 8.8 billion dollars in invest-
ment in this province. Never in On-
tario's history, has business invest-
ed so much in one year in this
province. And the reason that busi-
ness invested that money had to do
Dr. Jamie Harris
FCP candidate - Middlesex
The Family Coalition Party of
Ontario was founded to give a voice
to the people who could, for moral
reasons, no longer support any of
the old-line parties.
The FCP statement of policies and
principles, "For a Better Ontario, A
Formula For Success", makes clear
what the the FC stands for. Section
A no. 2 under the heading, ''Pur-
pose
Pur-
pose an Philosophy of the FCP,"
states " The FCP believes that in-
tegrity and moral leadership in
government are essential for a
healthy. and well -ordered society.
Compromising objective moral
principles threatens the value of
life and the stability of the family
and society." The list is endless of
immoral decisions made by former
governments. Sunday shopping,
gambling, abortion, and homosex-
uals' right to adopt children are just
a few to which one can point.
Irene Mathyssen
NDP candidate - Middlesex
I am running for re-election in
Middlesex because I care about the
future of this province and about
the people of Middlesex.
In these tough economic times,
some people have said we should
have cut jobs and slashed medicare
to save money but I know that is
not the answer. Supporting people
thrown out of work won't help low-
er the deficit and laying off nurses
and other health care professionals
won't help people who need health
care.
Making sure people have a pay
cheque and healthcare is more im-
portant then making promises.
Look at our record.
We increased the health care
budget from 15 billion to 17.8 bil-
lion in the last five years. We intro-
duced the first cancer strategy in
Ontario and increased spending
overall. We added 11 radiation ma-
chines and have plans for 13 more.
The London Regional Cancer Cen-
age firm and a home construction
firm.
I have been involved in politics
for the past 15 years. At the munici-
pal level I have been chairman and
a board member of the Petrolia Po-
lice Services Board as well as being
a board member of the hospital and
the public utilities commission. I
have been involved with parks and
recreation and acted as finance
chairman. At the county level I
have been a member of the Arts
and Culture Committee 'and the
Planning and Land Committee and
the Roads and Waste Management
Committee.
I have represented the county on
den for our next generation, our
children.
These are the tools voters need to
make government truly accountable
to the people, and I will work hard
to bring you these tools.
Job creation is a major concern
for many Lambton residents, and I
believe that this must be handled in
the private sector. To assist busi-
ness in job creation, we will re-
move Bill 40, the NDP Labour leg-
islation, and Bill 91, the Farm
Unionization legislation. We will
remove the Employer's Health tax
from business owners, and fund
OHIP through a more user oriented
system. We will revamp Pay Equity
and Employment Equity legislation
achievements, O'Neill lists coordi-
nating municipal support for a suc-
cessful International Plowing
Match in Enniskillen Twp. in 1991
and initiating the process which re-
sulted in the 9-1-1 emergency ser-
vice. He was also instrumental in
establishing a South Lambton Wa-
ter Line, making water available to
many communities.
Tourism is a issue which O'Neill
stresses as a key to the economic
growth of the Sarnia-Lambton area.
with the things that Bob Rae's gov-
ernment did to create this environ-
ment for them.
You here a lot of talk about the
cost of welfare these days. Industry
cutbacks have hurt the Lambton
economy. Voters want a plan of ac-
tion to get people back to work and
off unemployment insurance and
welfare.
The only way to do that is for
government to work with business,
with communities, and create an
environment for investment to
bring jobs. Bob Rae's government
did that.
The Ontario International Trade
Corporation brought in that 8.8 bil-
lion dollars to Ontario last year.
JobsOntario has put people to
Due to relentless tax increases, the
present government has made it al-
most impossible for farmers and
small businesses to survive.
The FCP will reconsider the legis-
lation on pay equity, employment
equity, and labour relations, with
the intent of creating a better non -
confrontational economic climate
and favouring business invest-
ments. Job applicants should be
evaluated solely on the basis of
merit.
The FCP believes that people,
while having rights to a fair return
for their enterprise and initiative,
also have a duty and responsibility
Ire received 14.6 billion to expand
radiatic n treatment capacity. We
moved funding from the traditional
health care system to more commu-
nity based health care and health
prevention. In our own area, we in-
creased funding for more care by
over 50 percent.
Meanwhile, the Liberals in Otta-
wa say they arc moving to a "ba-
sic" health care - that means one
for the rich and another for the rest
of us. New Democrats led the fight
to get medicare for Canadians and
now our government is leading the
fight to save medicare.
Our government tackled job crea-
tion with energy and creativity.
the St. Clair Parkway Commission
and the Lambton Health Unit.
I have been involved with many
volunteer organizations such as the
Red Cross Society, Lions club and
the Sarnia Lambton United Way
(president campaign chairman and
board member). I have never been
afraid to take a stand, make sound
decisions and stand by them while
working for the common good - as
well as being willing to help the in-
dividual.
I have always been accessible,
approachable and positive. While
Mayor of the Town of Petrolia, our
town council took stands which
were not popular at the time but
to make merit the qualifications for
hiring.
The main plan for job creation,
lies in balancing our deficit each
year, and reducing our debt. We be-
lieve there is ample room to cut 3
to 4 billion dollars annually in
spending, and to this will restore in-
vestors confidence in Ontario. With
renewed confidence, business can
grow, jobs will be created, and gov-
ernment will not have to spend
your tax dollars to c.reale these
jobs.
The FCP also believes in Reform-
ing Education, to save millions of
dollars, and to give parents the
choice of which schools they want
their children to attend. Vouchers
"Tourism has to be an area of pri-
ority for job creation," he told the
Sarnia Observer. "We're missing
the boat ori tourism. Whether it's
along the river or up the lake to-
wards Grand Bend it doesn't matter
to me. But, there has to be a great-
er emphasis placed on tourism.
There is a tremendous market out
there in Michigan and Toronto that
we can take advantage of."
O'Neill believes Lambton must
do a better job of marketing itself
as a tourist destination outside its
work and train our work force so
they will have the necessary skills
to attract investment.,
And, as I said earlier, Lambton
now has the water, sewer and roads
completed to create an investment
climate.
To get the ball rolling, and to
bring investment to Lambton, I am
proposing the Lambton Community
Action Advisory Group. A group of
people, representatives from busi-
ness, farming, labour, municipal
governments, education and health
care professionals and youth
groups.
There is no quick fix or magic
formula to bring industry to Lamb -
ton. Our community must pull to-
gether to get our people back to
both personally and collectively to
care and provide for the basic needs
of those who are unable to care and
provide for themselves.
FCP is built on strong family val-
ues because we believe the tradi-
tional family is the basic building
block of a healthy society.
The FCP opposes unfair tax treat-
ment of the traditional family and
discrimination against parents who
provide child-care at home. If one
spouse stays at home to look after a
family's children, each spouse
should be entitled to contribute to
the Canada Pension Plan based on
one half of the total earned income.

Our jobsOntario programs have
created over 40,000 jobs and is one
of the most successful job creation
programs ever.
As your MPP, I was able to help
facilitate the kinds of projects that
created over 2000 jobs here in Mid-
dlesex - projects that created new
jobs at Tender Tootsies in Mount
Brydges and Glencoe; that upgrad-
ed the community centres in Park-
hill and Lucan; or help to support
organizations like the Women's
Rural Economic Development Net-
work.
We were there when farmers
were hit by the recession and we've
been there ever since. In a spirit of
proved to be right. Our community
created a job friendly and invest-
ment friendly atmosphere, cutting
"red tape", resulting in growth and
benefit for the town of Petrolia.
The municipal taxes did not in-
crease for six years.
Our town council made tough
and challenging decisions long be-
fore it was popular, and it has been
proven that we made the right deci-
sions.
, A person is needed in govern-
ment who will be positive, who is
not afraid to work and take a stand,
who will get the job done.
I believe I am that person. And I
invite you to cast your vote for me
equivalent to the average cost of
tax dollars needed to educate each
child in Ontario, will be given to
each parent. Parents can then take
their voucher to the school that best
reflects their values, and offers the
best education for their tax dollar.
This system would be much fairer
and more equitable than our present
system.
For the reasons I've mentioned
and many contained within our pol-
icy books, I believe that the FCP is
addressing the issues the voters of
Lambton and Ontario are con-
cerned with. This is why I believe
that I represent your best choice in
having your concerns voiced at
immediate area.
As the Liberal candidate for the
Lambton riding, O'Neill shares the
concerns of the residents. He is
committed to providing strong rep-
resentation to this riding and is pre-
pared to tackle difficult problems
and be a representational voice at
Queen's Park.
work. And I pledge that I will work
to make the Lambton Group the
beacon of this community for at-
tracting investment and creating
jobs. So that the citizens of Lamb -
ton can have pay cheques instead of
welfare cheques.
And I just want to take a moment
here to talk about health care - a
service that Bob Rae's government
has worked to preserve - a service
that he is committed to preserving.
Lyn McLeod says she will cut taxes
by $2 billion. Mike Harris is saying
he will cut taxes by $4 billion.
If just doesn't add up. Tax cuts
that large plus spending on their
election promises will mean cuts to
health care.
Especially next year when the
FCP supports free daycare as a
means of social assistance only for
the needy. FCP will rescind social
assistance to youth under the age of
18 who can be supported by their
parents.
The FCP has well-designed poli-
cies on areas such as education, ec-
onomic reform, healthcare reform,
social assistance, the environment,
law and order, and all other areas of
government.
As the FCP candidate for Middles-
ex, given a chance, I would like to
be instrumental in turning Ontario
around from the financial
and moral decay into which it has
cooperation, we listened to farmers
and people in rural communities
and put in place the programs they
need to thrive in today's world.
Our Agricultural Investment
Strategy helps farmers get lower
cost credit for short and long term
needs and helps build financial
skills so that farmers and lenders
can better work together for a thriv-
ing rural economy. This includes:
the Commodity Loan Guarantee
Program, the Agricultural Educa-
tion and Expertise Program and
FARM PLUS which keeps rural
dollars in our own communities.
I'm proud of the work I've done
with the people of Middlesex. We
on election day, and together I
promise, we will achieve our com-
mon goals. Thank you.
Queens Park. A vote for the other
parties is a vote for more of the
same old thing!
Liberals start cutting $3.6 billion
from Ontario for health care, educa-
tion and other services. That's
enough money to run our 30
biggest hospitals in Ontario.
It doesn't add up.

rio a province of which we can truly

still have a lot to do and I want ter
