Giving blood at SHDHS

Prospect Hills
EXETER - The Exeter Notnads
held their spring campout at the
Prospect Hills Campgrounds on
May 26, 27 and 28.
On Friday evening the Bruce
Colemans and Skinners took the
group on a tour of Bronson. They
arrived in time to take in the Bald
Knobles Show. Popcorn and lemo-
nade were served during the show
and afterwards the group enjoyed
coffee and cookies.
On Saturday the group had a
washer toss contest. The winners of
the 'A' event were Gloria Mous-
seau and Daryl Sexsmith. The 'B'
event was won by Marge Hodge
and Brad Barns. In the afternoon
they enjoyed many old time games.
Kick the slipper contest was won
by Jan Barnes for the women and
Lloyd Mousseau won the men's
contest. Clothes pins in the bottle
was won by Bill Perry. Guess the
picture was won by Audry Barry.
The balloon race was won by
Christine Traquair and Brad Barns.
They enjoyed ice cream sundaes af-
terwards.
After a smorgasbord meal, the
campers had a scavenger hunt, won
by Bruce Coolman and Aldeen
Skinner. Second place winners
were Helen Webber and Howard
Hodge. They played Court Whist.
High score winner was Dan Tra-
quair and the low score winner was
Helen _Tory. They finished the eve-
ning with a campfire.
On Sunday morning, the Hodges,
Colemans and Skinners were hosts
of a bacon, egg and sausage break-
fast.
The lawn dart competition was
cancelled due to rain, so the camp-
ers played euchre. Maurice Haist
was the mens winner and Jean
Coward was the ladies high score
winner. Low score winners were
Harry and Marion Dougall and
Most single hands were won by
Derek Hilien.
The president welcomed new
members Harry and Marion Dou-
gall.
UCW hold
May meeting
EXETER - Alma Langford wel-
comed 30 members to the UCW
afternoon unit on Thursday May
I 1 .
June roll call will be to bring the
name of a favorite hymn so that
Mr. Topp can play them at various
times.
Friendship tca will he held on
June 1. Westminster weekend will
be on Junc 2 to 4 and Bimini Junc
12.

The UCW afternoon unit has
adopted a cabin at Mcnescting. If
anything is nccdcd there it will he
supplied.
Leona Hcrn was in charge of de-
votions and Mary Baechler spoke
on the seasons mentioning their
beauty, the sun, flowers, falling
'leaves and the snow. Hilda Taylor
Icad in prayer.
Jean Hodgert played several
numbers on the organ and Flor-
ence Finkbeiner on the piano.
They concluded with their num-
bers Amazing Grace and How
Great Thou Art.
Keeping an eye on the
situation, Tina Glavin,
a student at SHDHS,
took part in the
Exeter Blood Donor
Clinic on Thursday.

MITCHELL - The S.T.O. Huron -Perth Teachers held their Dis-
trict 9 meeting recently. June Bousscy S.T.O. President welcomed
all the retired teachers at Mitchell Public School. Principal Gary
Wright also welcomed everyone.
Ian Munro introduced 12 Mitchell Gospel Singers with Carolyn
Paulen on the piano. They were thanked by Bob Moorehead for a
tremendous presentation and given a gift.
Ralph Smith introduced another guest, Maree Collinson from
Atwood, a retired kindergarten teacher, who expertly dramatized
a Native Story. She was thanked by Carol Simons and presented
with a gift.
A business meeting followed. Eleanor Smith read the minutes
that were approved by the group. Reports were presented by the
following: health services - Harold Wisternoff; membership -
Carol Simons; political action - Joan ,Hamilton; Huron Unit -
Ralph Smith and Perth Unit Bob Moorehead.
Ross Haugh is retiring as newsletter editor and Ralph Smith is
taking over.

SHDHS youth
arrested
EXETER - A youth was arrested
at SHDHS for intoxication on
Wednesday. The young offender
was taken to the OPP station in Ex-
eter, and helfl until the person was
sober. The offender was then
charged and released.
