Exeter Juveniles win over
St. Marys on Sunday
Dwight Ginger/ch winds up
for a pitch during the Exeter
Juveniles win over St. Marys.
EXETER - After losing their
first L.D.B.A. League game 6-3
to the Oakridge Hornets last
Sunday, the Exeter Juvenile
team scored four runs in the bot-
tom of the first and one run in
the second inning
for a 5-2 win over
St. Marys on Thurs-
day.
Exeter relied on
their strong pitching
and consistent de-
fensive play to win
their first game in
their new L.D.B.A.
league.
Pitching for Exet-
er was Dwight
Gingerich for the first three and
a half innings while Dwayne
McNab came in for the other
three and a half to finish the sev-
en inning contest.
Both pitched good games com-
bining mound duties for a com-
bination of seven strikeouts.
The hits for Exeter came from
Scot Kemp with a double and a
single, Blake Schade also hit a
double while Dave Hopf, Darren
Knits and Trevor Taylor re-
corded singles.
Coach Gary Hartman said the
last time these two teams met
Exeter lost. But this time "we
had the hits with
guys on base."
Hartman will be
using newly ac-
quired pitcher Jer-
emy Stone in their
following game.
Stone will bring Ex-
eter's pitching team
up to five and Hart-
man will be ex-
pecting a lot from
the talented pitcher
who has played with some high-
ly touted Toronto teams and is
rumored to pack a blistering fast
ball.
"I can't see us improving but
were sure playing well," said
Hartman about his club's per-
formance lately. "My goal is to
play 500 ball this year. If they do
that I'll be happy."
"We had
the hits
with
guys on
base."
Dave Farquhar heads the ball in. the South Huron District High
School junior soccer team's championship victory over St. Mi-
chaels on Friday afternoon.
