By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - The 'spiritual celebra- tion of community life' held at the Zurich Mennonite Church on Sun- day was a big success, with good attendance at the various activities throughout the day. Members from all the different faiths tn the village attended the worship service held in the eve- ning. Special speaker was Rev. Vern Cronmiller Chris Eagleson con- ducted a 50 -voice choir. A free will offering was collected that will be sent to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Senior Diners Fifty Senior Diners were treated to a delicious pork dinner May 3 at the community centre. Annie Fink- beiner was the 50/50 winner. A thank you card from Faye Skinner was read by Gertie Fleischauer, thanking the diners for the farewell gifts she received recently. A poem, "A May Day Song", was read by Tammy Antaya. Card bin- go was enjoyed by all, followed by progressive euchre. Winners were: High, Phyllis Deichert; Low, Leila Becker; and Lone hands, Annie Finkbeiner. 4-H The Nifty Needlers had their last meeting at the home of Sylvia Neeb on May 1. The group had a pizza party and finished their extra craft. NDP event Premier Bob Rae and Elmer Bu- chanan, minister of Agricultural Food and Rural Affairs, travelled to Bayfield on Tuesday where they were guests of honour at the Town Hall. The event was hosted by Hu- ron New Democrat candidate M.P.P. Also attending were Jerome and Carmel Sweeney and Butch Sweeney from the Zurich area. A bridal shower was held for Keltie MacNeill on May 6 at the Dashwood Community Centre. She is the fiance of Jeff Keller, son of George and Elaine. They are plan- ning to be married on May 27.
