Early bird gets the worm
Barry Tiernan president of Exeter Minor Baseball and
fundraising co-ordinator Diane Hartman congratulate Ken-
dra Smith and Brad Tieman for successfully completing
• 100 percent sales of the "Give and Take" booklet in two
weeks of their fundraising campaign. Smith won first
prize in the early bird draw, she gets her '95 registration
fee back, and Tiernan won the second prize, 10 video ren-
tal vouchers donated by Oscars Video. Money raised by
the two go towards the cost of running minor baseball in
Exeter.
Neighbourhood
horticulture
clubs planned

HENSALL - The Hensall and
District Horticultural Society meet
May 15, at the Hensall United
Church, at 8 p.m. At this meeting
the group will be hosting neighbor-
ing horticulture clubs. The speaker
will be Dr. Paul Cavers, a seed
physiologist, who will discuss
"Weed Seeds" Why They Pose a
Problem". Everyone is welcome.
The Friendship Circle of the Hen-
sall United Church held their May
meeting,. on May 1, Helen MacL-
ean chaired the meeting and wel-
comed 14 members and two guests.
She read a poem on Mother's Day.
Mary Brintnell led the devotional
and opened with the hymn "The
Glory of Spring, How Sweet".
Brintnell then read a Mother's Day
article and closed with prayer.
The Bale will be packed June 5.
Also the Friendship Circle will be
looking after bingo at Queensway
each Monday in May.
The guest speaker for the eve-
ning was Sharon Wurm, who gave
a humorous talk on Mother's Day
and Motherhood. Prayer closed the
meeting. Beatrice Richardson and
Lorna Spencer served lunch and a
time of fellowship was enjoyed.
Join the Hensall Community
Drop -In, May 18 at the Hensall
United Church. Activities include:
foot care at 10 a.m., a noon lunch
and Sandra Feltz will be the guest
speaker from the Public Health
Unit. Cards and Public Health Con-
sultation will follow. Helen MacL-
ean will give a Mother's Day read-
ing.

Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary
held their meeting on May 3. Presi-
dent Iva Reid presided.
Plans were finalized for the Pen-
ny Sale to start May 23.

Joyce Willert; Second Vice -
President Helen Breen; Secretary

The President informed the mem-
bers a Joint Installation of officers
is to be held May 26 by Blyth Le-
gion and the Auxiliary Installing
team.
Marlene Bell opened the May
meeting of the Carmel P.C.W. with
a Mother's Day poem. Helen
McKay conducted the worship ser-
vice with Mother's Day as her
theme. McKay stressed what an
important role a mother plays in all
our lives. Edith Bell was the pianist
for the evening.
In the absence of Secretary Doro-
thy Taylor, Marg Valley read the
minutes. The roll call was an-
swered by a donation for the Bos-
nia project.
