Local Health Fair
brings new ideas
EXETER - "You don't see any
sharks with diseases, now do your
This observation came from Bob
MacGillivray, an independent dis-
tributor of Golden Pride and Raw-
Ieigh health products, discussing
the benefits of shark cartrilidge at
the Holistic Health fair at Exeter
Public School on Saturday.
This event invited local health
practitioner to display and discuss
alternative, as well as tried and
true, solutions to common health
problems. The products offered
varied from vitamin supplements to
herbal remedies to iridology, the
study of the iris to determine your
health.
The day was organized by the
Rayners who own Folkstone Nat-
ural Foods in Exeter. Despite the
somewhat low attendance, Ann
Rayner remained positive.
"We're doing well today," says
Rayner. "It's about people meeting
people."
Doris Elliot -Noble, Director for
Rainbows, discussed her program
which involves peer -support for
children who are experiencing trau-
ma such as a death in' the family or
divcrce.
"This is not counselling," says El-
liot -Noble. The organization also
has programs for teens and adults.
Nikken Products offered an un-
usual perspective on well-being.
Judy Dougall, a distributor of Nikk-
en products, demonstrated how
magnetic' fields help the body re-
generate and strengthen itself. The
.products that she sells transfer and
reinforce the body's natural mag-
netic field.
"The theory involves magnets on
the.body that cross the capillaries
perpendicularly. This enhances
mental and physical well-being,"
says Dougall.
To demonstrate the theory, Dou-
gall performs the Energy Test. She
has her subject stand on two foot-
prints that are magnetized with a
criss-cross pattern. The subject then
puts her middle finger and thumb
together as tightly as possible,
while standing on the footprints.
Dougall tries to pull the fingers
apart, while the subject resists.
Great strength is shown on the part
of the subject.
The subject is then asked to step
off the footprints and the rest of the
experiment is repeated. This time,
Dougall is much more successful in
pulling the subject's two fingers
apart, as the subject demonstrates a
definite decline in strength.
"The products are guaranteed.
There is a free trial period of 30
days," says Dougall. She also sells
magnetized mattresses, pillows and
stress balls.
