advantage qf the trash
EXETER - And you thought it
was impossible to get kids to
take out the trash?
Students at Eeeter
Public school are ac-
tively involved in the
trash. They are re-
cycling, reducing and
reusing it, in the
name of a greener •,
school. t,
As of March this
year, Exeter Public
School became a "Green School",
with a project called Learners in
Action. To gain this status, the
students had to complete 100 en-
vironmental projects.
To recognize their new stat-
us, the school was presented with
the Green Banner on Friday,
April 21 to hang in the foyer.
Environmental projects in-
clude recycling paper, collecting
recyclable materials, and turning
the lights off when every-
one leaves the room.
The Learners in
4j Action Program is
ee organized by
SEEDS Founda-
tion, which is a fed-
erally chartered,
non-profit organiza-
b tion. It is dedicated
t• to increasing en -
tit ' vironmental educa-
tion in Canada.
The students will continue to
work for "Jade" status, which is
the next level and means they
must complete 150 environmental
projects.
These will include a composter
for students to use who eat lunch
at School and using both sides of
paper before recycling.
Exeter Public school students are proud of their commit-
ment to the environment. Left to right: Jennifer Hodder, Cec-

bacon. The Messengers had baked
.goods to sell.
On Sunday at the churches,

Acts 9:1-6 and John 21:1-19. The
scriptures told about the appearanc-
es of Jesus to the disciples after his
resurrection, so that they would
know he was still with them. She
explained the significance of these
events following that first Easter.
Flowers were placed in the sanc-
tuary by the Isaac family in memo-
