Senior Games
The activity schedule
runs from Monday to
Friday.

ZURICH - Senior Games Week
is planned for May 1 to 5. The
schedule is as follows: May 1, Solo
at the Township Hall, 1:30 p.m.,
contact Cecilia Farwell, 236-4646;
May 2, Cribbage at Spruce Villa
Apartments, 2:30 p.m., contact
Gwen McKellar, 236-7209;
May 3, Euchre at the Community
Center, 1:30 p.m., contact Gwen
McKellar, 236-7209; May 4, Croki-
nole at the Township Hall, 1:30
p.m., contact Ina Neeb, 236-4752;
and May 5, Bridge at the Township
Hall, 1:00 p.m., contact Marie Geli-
nas, 236-4981.
Senior Diners
Sixty Senior Diners enjoyed a
turkey dinner April 19 at the Com-
munity Centre. The tables were
centred with vases of daffodils do-
nated by Ann Flaxbard. Susan
Hemmingway was the 50/50 win-
ner. A poem `The Daffodils' was
read by Faye Skinner.
Guest speaker Jean O'Rourke, a
public health nurse for the Huron
County Health Unit, Exeter office,
spoke to the Diners of precautions
and safety measures they should
use in their homes and apartments.
Card games were enjoyed.
Retreats
Carol and Cyril Gingerich attend-
ed two Christian Blind Mission do-
nor retreats from April 19 through
April 23, 1995, at Bayview Wild -
wood on the Lake, Orillia.
Featured speakers and resource
persons were Dr. Norval and Doro-
thy Christy. Dr. Christy performed
over 100,000 cataract operations in
Pakistan during their forty years
mission service in that country.
Carol and Cyril operated "A
World of Goods" craft tables at the
two retreats. They sold over $2,000
worth of goods during this time.
Bean festival
The bean festival meeting will be
held at the public school in the li-
brary on April 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Golden Agers
The Zurich Golden Agers will be
travelling to Dungannon on April
25 for their spring rally.
Girls Club
A good time was had by 20 girls
and three leaders as they spent last
Friday and Saturday at a Girl's
Club Retreat at Camp Gtenhuron.
The leader was Marilyn Vermeu-
len.
One of the activities was a
Monk's meal (in silence) with vari-
ous kinds of eating utensils.
Their next meeting will be held
on Tuesday, May 16 with a mother -
daughter banquet to be held at the
Mennonite Church Hall.

Easter in Zurich.
Eight women from Zurich attend-
ed an appreciation dinner in Sea -
forth for volunteers from the Din-
ers program.
Part of the fun was to wear a
decorated Easter bonnet. Two in
the group won prizes while another
one won a door prize.
Happy birthday wishes are ex-
tended to Case Van Raay, RR 3
Dashwood, on April 25.
A family dinner was held in his
honour on Saturday in Grand Bend
at the Coral Reef Inn.
Then on Sunday, a get-together
was held at their home by wife An-
nie with children coming from Pe -

accident in
Hay Twp.
HAY TWP. - Police are investi-
gating a two vehicle accident which
caused property damage at the in-
tersection of Hwv. 83 and County
Road 02, on Wednesday. A vehicle
heading southbound on County
Road 02 failed to stop at the inter-
section, and struck a westbound ve-
hicle.

Happy 80th birthday wishes go
out to Norma Siebert on April 14.
A family dinner was held at the
home of son Dave and Ruth Siebert
in Zurich on Sunday with a few
close friends attending.
A surprise 40th birthday party
was held for Diane Klopp on Satur-
day night at Si. Peter's Parish hall,
St. Joseph. Several friends and rel-
atives enjoyed visiting and singing
to karaoke. The luncheon was ca-
tered by Jerry Rader. The actual
date of Diane's birthday is April
21, the same day as Glen Greb.
Ted and Sarah Robson of Wind-
sor spent a few days last week vis-
iting with his father Wilfred Corri-
veau, a patient in South Huron
Hospital, and relatives in the area.
Yvonne ,Hartman, Waterloo,
spent last week with her mother,
Juliette Denomme. Other family
members spent time visiting her as
well.
Earl and Malinda Gingerich and
Earl and Doreen Oesch are home
after spending the winter months in
Florida.
The Oesch's also travelled to
California and visited with their
daughter Wendy and family and
their new baby boy.
Andrew Rau is home after being
in the hospital since November.
Joe Risi and Martha Ducharme
Week is planned for Zurich
returned home on Sunday after a
two week trip to Switzerland,
where they spent Easter and visited
with Joe's sisters and relatives.
Ina Neeb and friend Donna
Smith from Hensall went on a bus
trip to Hamilton on Sunday, April
23 to see "Stars on Ice", which fea-
tured Lloyd Eisler from Seaforth
and partner Isabelle Brasseur.
Several from the Zurich area
took part in the "Walk for Sick
Kids" in Exeter on Sunday after-
noon which was sponsored by
Steve and Audrey Skinner. This
was their fifth and last year.
Community life celebrated
A reminder to take pan in the
'Spiritual Celebration of Commu-
nity Life' at the Mennonite Church
in Zurich on Sunday, May 7. Activ-
ities begin at 1:00 p.m. with tours
that cost $2.00 for adults.
At 2:30 p.m. there are several ac-
tivities planned for the children.
At 3:30 a public forum will be
held on issues confronting rural
communities. This will be followed
by a potluck supper in the fellow-
ship hall at 5:30 p.m.
At 7:00 p.m. there will be a wor-
ship celebration with special music
by a 50 -voice choir from all the
four churches in the village. Guest
speaker will be Rev. Vern Cron -
miller of the Lutheran Church.
Congratulations to Dennis and
Dena Regier, RR 3 Zurich on the
arrival of their third baby, Shannen
Isabella, born April 20; .and to his
brother Chris and Sandra Regier on
the arrival of their first baby, Bai-
ley Nicole, born April 21. They are
grandchildren for Clare and Mary -
Faye Regier, RR 3, Zurich. Bailey
is the second grandchild for Dave
and Carol Steckle from Huron
Ridge Acres.

rich�and Nap Denomme, Windsor
attended the wedding of their neph-
ew held in Tobermory on April 23.
The families of Louis and Cecilia
Farwell got together at their par-
ent's home recently to celebrate
Easter.
Auxiliary
The next Ladies Auxiliary meet-
ing will be held at the Rest Home
on May 2, beginning with a pro-
gram and lunch at 7 p.m.
Optimist Club
Plans are well underway for the
"non-violence day" to be held in
Zurich on Saturday, May 6 at the
arena from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Optimist Club are hosting this
project.
They will also have a youth
dance at the Arena on Friday, April
28 from 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is $3.00
at the door with music by Hook's
Party Sound.
Tickets are available for the Li-
ons Club 50th Anniversary dinner
and dance at the Community Cen-
tre on Friday, May 5. Social hour is
at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $16.00 person from
J&L Variety Store or from Louis
Willert at 236-4240.

Hamburg on Saturday, May 27 by
