B(uewater
birthday party
ZURICH - It was Birthday Party
Time at Blue Water Rest Home on
Tuesday evening as 11 residents
celebrated their April birthdays.
The spring births were Kurt Gebel,
Roy Gingerich, Ruby Bell, Susan
Leslie, Beatrice McNab, Robert
Stark, Annie Willem, Connie Gra-
ham, Verlyn Fisher, Harvey Keys
and Mary Romaniszyn. This many
celebrants kept Vera Thiel, resident
and gift wrapper busy as she assists
the Home and the Auxiliary by vol-
unteering her time to wrap each gift
given to the birthday resident each
month.
The evening entertainment was
chaired by Kathy Hayter of Zion
Lutheran Church, Dashwood who
had her helpers all decked out in
their Easter Bonnets for the eve-
ning. Candance Becker spoke on
her dad's trip to India and Sharon
VanRompi and Lee Anne Becker
played piano solos. Jane Hayter
played "Moonlight Sonata" and
sang "The Lords Prayer" and
"Amazing Grace." Stephanie Rader
and Sharon VanRompi sang "I'm
Falling in Love with You," "Cook
Something up for Me" and "My
Pretty Fraulein."
Nancy Rader was pianist for the
evening and played a couple rounds
of "Here comes Peter Cottontail"
while the residents joined in the
chorus. Sure enough, along came
two Easter bunnies, Kristen and
Kerilynn Reschke, with baskets
filled with chocolate Easter eggs
which they passed around and then
delivered the birthday gifts. Birth-
day cake and ice cream was served
by Auxiliary members Jean Arm-
strong and Mary Lou Denommc.
The Monday afternoon movie,
"ehngels in th Outfield" starring
Tony Danza and Christopher
Lloyd, put the malt residents into a
baseball mood. Rev. Henry Annen,
Hensall United Church conducted
Thursday afternoon Chapel Service
and Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boni-
face Church, Zurich held Holy
Communion.
The weekend saw many family
members visiting the Home and
residents having a day out with
their children. Sunday the staff
shed their usual uniform attire for
Easter bonnets, bunny costumes
and Easter attire. An Easter cgg
hunt was conducted in the auditori-
um and many residents found their
rewards without much effort. The
hunt was assisted by staff members
on duty.
The residents look forward to the
Christian Reformed Church mem-
bers visit on April 18 and Max Du-
charmc and the Town Liners on
April 20.
Condolences to the family and
friends of the late Lorne Devine
who passed away at South Huron
Hospital, Exeter on April 13.
Lorne's wife Lorcen is a tenant of
BWRH Apartments and has assist-
ed the Home with Lorne's care the
past four years. Lorcen and Lorne
moved into the apartment arca in
1987; previously they lived in the
Grand Bend community.
$1,000.00 prescription

Just what the doctor ordered. Leo Krahn passes a $1,000.00 cheque to Alyssa Darling,
president of Exeter Public School Student Council. The money was donated by Big V Phar-
macy recently as part of their ongoing community support program to celebrate Big V's
tenth anniversary in Exeter. Jane Hefley, centre, says the money will go directly to the Par-
ent's Association fundraising drive to increase the number of computers available to the
students.
