Stephen minor hockey
STEPHEN TWP. - As the hockey season draws to a close, the Ste-
phen Twp. minor hockey executive can reflect on a very successful
year.
The junior girls team which was coached by Pete Rut -

ished the year with a "B" championship at the Park-
hill tournament and were "A" champions at the
Strathroy tournament.
The senior girls team coached by Les Gardner and
assisted by Jody Mosurinjohn and Jane Rowe fin-
ished the year respectively as senior girls hockey is still quite new to
Stephen Twp.
The bantam rep team coached by Bob Parsons with assistance from
Jim McCann and Bill Noakes took the "B" trophy from the Zurich
tournament while the Bantam additional entry team coached by Jeff
Stewart and assisted by Ron Pickering were the W.O.A.A. A.E. cham-
pions and also the "B" champions of the Zurich tournament.
The Pee wee rep team coached by Les Sherwood and assisted by Jim
McCann and Bob Finkbeiner traveled as far as they could travel by
winning the W.O.A.A. Regional Silver Stick "CC" tournament, the
W.O.A.A. Peewee "E" trophy and taking the All -Ontario Pee Wee "E"
cup after defeating Port Carling three games straight.
The Pee wee local league coached by Jamie Wilson and assisted by
Paul Glavin and Rick Davies were first place in their league and were
winners of the W.O.A.A. Pee wee local league.
The Atom rep team coached by Dick Lord with assistance from Rick
Davies and Glenn Rollings were "A" champions of the Bill Batten Me-
morial (Exeter) "CC" tournament. They also defeated Clifford for the
W.O.A.A. championship and went on to take the all -Ontario Atom "E"
championship defeating Ops Township in three straight games.
The Atom local league team coached by Bev Thompson with help
from Tony Michielsen and Mark Laye Sr. were "A" champions of the
Parkhill Atom house tourney and took the W.O.A.A. Atom local
league championship.
The novice rep team coached by Ron Johnson and assisted by Ho-
ward Schenk and Bill VanBergen were moved up to the "CC" division
for playoffs and were finalists against Durham.
Novice local league coached by Rich Springall with help from Mark
Desjardine were `B" champions of the Stephen tournament and also of
the W.O.A.A. local league.
The Stephen Tyke team coached by Morley Thompson, assisted by
Kevin Windsor and Mark Cronyn played a very strong year and ended
up as first place winners in league play. They also were "A" champi-
ons of the Tavistock and Stephen tournaments and took the W.O.A.A.
Tyke "E" trophy.
The pre -tyke division which was coached by Mark Cronyn with help
from Bruce Hodge also had a very successful year and especially had a
lot of fun learning the sport of hockey.
