NOM 2T0 ®P L 1 M ITE D Students get a "Slice of Huron" SEAFORTH - Last week public school students from Huron County had a chance to learn more about local agriculture through, "Slice of Huron." The event is organized by the Huron Agriculture Awareness Committee. The committee is comprised of representatives from commodity groups, rural organizations, agribusinesses and education. During April 10-13, about 1,500 grade 4 and 5 students had an opportunity to get involved with hands-on activities in the areas of dairy, red meats, fruits and vegetables, grains, poultry and eggs. Some of the scheduled activities included making sausage, seeing what an emu looks like, and getting up close to a goat and an elk. Admission to the event for students and families was the donation of a non- perishable food item which will help to support the Huron County Food Bank. This year marked the third annual "Slice of Huron" which has much to offer children in the county who are not exposed to all the aspects of our local agriculture community.
