Crimes of the week Break and Enter Several residences in Gorrie and Fordwich were entered and purses, wallets, and other items were taken from the kitchen areas. Entry was usually gained through unlocked doors and once inside the culprits re- moved the items. The break and enters took place between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. on March 23, or 24, 1995 when the occupants were sleep- ing. The purses and wallets were discarded after the cash had been re- moved. Tires slashed, Goderich On April 7 or 8, 1995 three vehicles on Bruce Street in Goderich had the tires slashed. Damage appeared to be caused by a knife or sim- ilar object. All the vehicles were in private driveways when the dam- age occurred. Mischief, Exeter Damage was done to a vehicle on March 16 or 17, 1995. Unknown persons slashed the window on a convertible while it was sitting at a residence on Victoria Street in Exeter. The damage occurred some- time between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and is estimated at approximately $600. Vehicle stolen . A vehicle was stolen after it was left on the shoulder of sideroad 15- 16 of Tuckersmith Township. The driver experienced mechanical problems and went home to get help to retrieve the vehicle. When they returned the vehicle was gone. Remember Crime doesn't pay, Crime Stoppers does. Alternative health care topic at Auxiliary meeting EXETER - The April meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary was held Tuesday, April 11. President Mar- jorie Johns chaired the meeting, which opened with 0 Canada, fol- lowed by a reading "Why Rabbits Deliver Easter Eggs". Donna Paynter introduced the guest speaker Gabriele Sutton from Exeter Natures Clinic Alternative Health Care. She is a specialist in Iridology-Herbology. Iridology is finding a person's body weaknesses through iris (eye) analysis, and helping people feel better by rec- ommending herbal remedies and by offering alternative health care through their clinic. The minutes were read and busi- ness dealt with. The year end re- ports were given. Vera Armstrong presented the budget. The regular monthly draw was won by Mary Carlton. Chris Philips was the win- ner of a special draw for a doll which has been on display in the gift shop. The installation of officers will take place at the May meeting. A reminder from the president, of the rummage sale Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Anyone from the area who has not been called to help, and would like to of- fer a hand, please come. Your help would be truly appreciated. It is the involvement of the whole commu- nity which makes this event such a huge success. Household hazardous waste will be accepted at the Strathroy Works Garage, 475 Metcalfe St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 22. Goderich and area residents can take their materials to the Goderich Works Garage, 361 Cambridge St. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22. One day later, April 23, events will take place at the St. Marys Works Garage, 433 Widder St. E. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the Bosanquet Works Garage, 9575 Port Franks Road in Northville, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hazardous products should al- ways be used carefully, even when disposing of them. The collection events provide the opportunity to remove potentially dangerous Lucan man thrown from vehicle, dies from injuries LONDON - Ronald Damen, 20, RR 3 Lucan, died in University Hospital from injuries he received after being thrown from a car Sunday about 2 a.m. Lucan OPP said the vehicle, driven by Marc Rosso of Hyde Park rolled several times when he attempted to pass another vehicle on Denfield Road about three ki- lometers northwest of Ilder- ton.The four had been at a stag and doe party. Two other passengers: Jennifer Cook, Granton and Jason Wilson, RR I, Hyde Park were treated at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Lon- don. Money stolen • from Exeter Car Wash 1 EXETER - Police are investigat-' ing the theft of money from the coin boxes at the Exeter Car Wash on Friday night. An unsuccessful theft was attempted at the soft drink dispensers at Seips Valu -Mart, but damage was done to the dispensers. A 1993 Mercury ' an hit a deer on Hwy 83, west of Exeter, on Monday night. The driver, Vincent Palframan of London, did not sus- tain any injuries. Two cars collided at the corner of Main St. and Huron, on Friday. The vehicle driven by Lorijane Lamb of London, struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Phylis Ruddy also of London. Ruddy had stopped for a red light, when Lamb struck Ruddy's car from behind. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, and Lamb has been charged under the Hwy. Traffic Act. A 1995 Dodge Ram was stolen Sunday from Exeter Chrysler on Main St. It is a four wheel drive pickup with silver stripes. The truck contains a toolbox and a bed liner. Have a news tip? Those pressurized "metered -dose inhalers" for asthma contain CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons) as propellants to push the medica- tion out of the inhaler. CFC's are not ecologically friendly.
