Crimes of
the week
Theft from store in Clinton
On March 15, 1995 at the Target store in Clinton three Asian maks
came into the store to play video games. They played the games for
approximately one half hour and then left. After the suspects left at
about 5:30 p.m. the store clerk noticed that the metal door had been
pried open on the front of the games and the coin boxes were empty.
One of the suspects was wearing a red and white jacket with "LAO"
printed on the back.
Theft McKillop Township
Thieves entered the lot at Hart Ford, McKillop Township on De-
cember 24, 1994 and removed several parts from a vehicle. Removed
were glass roof panels, map light, vanity mirror, shifter knob, fog
lights, licence plate frame, canvass cargo cover, and ash tray.
Theft, Vanastra
On March 21, 1995 culprits broke the lock off the door of a truck
parked at the Vanastra Public School and removed a quantity of potato
chips.
Theft of vehicle in Stephen Township
Strathroy OPP found a burnt out vehicle in Caradoc Township on
March 19, 1995. It was learned that the vehicle had been stolen from
beside the Post Office in Huron Park at approximately 12:30 a.m. on
March 11, 1995. The value of the'vehicle was about $5000.

The Huron County Bard of Education
invites tenders for
ALTERATIONS TO CLINTON PUBLIC SCHOOL
Sealed tenders addressed to The Huron County Board of Education will be received at
the lluron County Board of Education, 103 Albert Street, Clinton, Ontario, NOM ILO,
until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 1995.
A Bid Bond amount of 515,000.00 is required to accompany the tender. The
successful bidder will be required to provide a 50% Performance Bond and 50%
Labour and Material Payment Bond.
A limited number of tender documents will be available to General Contractors only,
at the office of Garratt Re Marklevitz, upon deposit of a certified cheque in the amount
of $50.00 per set.

The Physical Activity Communi-
ty Action Group for Huron County
will be involving six host commu-
nities - Exeter, Clinton, Seaforth,
Vanastra, Wingham and Goderich
in "Summer Active '95". This two
month Canada wide program pro-
motes the benefits of regular physi-
cal activity and encourages people,
regardless of age, ability or gender
to choose an active healthy life-
style.
The full schedule of events for
the entire County will be in each of
the community newspapers during
the month of May, so watch for it
and get your- family and friends to
come out and join in the fun! If you

information about "Summer Active

canoe rally
There were 93 ca-
noes registered for the
annual event.

VARNA - The tenth annual ca-
noe rally sponsored by the Stanley
Township Rec Committee was a
great success as usual with 93 ca-
noes registered and 206 prizes do-
nated and 200 poker hands sold.
Doug Armstrong won first prize.
Iry Willert won second prize and
Laur McNichol won third prize by
having the hest poker hands. The
lucky winner of the canoe was Rod
Parker, one of the regular canoers
who has participated other years.
Many local businesses donated
prizes for the rally.
Pork barbecue
The annual Varna church pork
barbecue will, be held Wednesday,
June 21. More details will follow.
UCW
The Varna U.C.W. will meet on
Thursday, April 6 at 8 p.m. in the
church basement. Heather Beier -
ling will speak on their time at Toc
Alpha.
Youth groups
The Trends Youth Group will he
selling their crafts and baking fol-
lowing the church service this Sun-
day, April 9 in Varna, in Goshen
on Sunday, April 23 and Kippen
Sunday, April 30. Tea and coffee
will also be served by the Trends.
The proceeds will go to Mission
and Service Funds and to fund
youth group activities.
The Teens will meet on Thurs-
day, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. for a
Bible Study on self-esteem. Dr. R.
TerViuget will be guest speaker
from London Christian Counsel-
ling Services.
Crokinole
An open crokinole party will be
held Tuesday, April 11 at 8 p.m. to
wind down the crokinole for this
season. Everyone is welcome. Par-
ticipants arc asked to bring boards
and card tables.
