Ministries
report
EXETER - The Womens Minis-
tries hole the actor Pentecostal
Tabernacle, was held at the home
bf Jean1611; Mtfireh 30 at 2 p.m.
President Jean Triebner took
charge of the service and led in the
hymn "Speak My Lord".
Marion Triebner accompanied
on the piano. Blanch Cudmore
prayed.The hymn, I'll Go Where
You Want Me To go was sung.
The roll call was taken and an-
swered on a scripture verse on
Neighbour. There were 13 present.
It was decided to send money to
Argentina Orphanage and the
Thailand Blind School.
W.M. Day on April 2 was held at
Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle
with Barbara Hicks speaking.
Dorothy Cooper gave a reading
"United in Christ". Prayer was led
by Jean Triebner, also a reading of
a Testimony of a Missionary. All
the ladies took part by reading a
Bible verse. Lunch was served by
the hostess Jean Jolly and Marion
Triebner.
Cloggers
entertain
Queensway
residents
HENSALL - Thursday evening at
Queensway Nursing Home resident
gathered for a special presentation
at their March birthday party. They
welcomed a group of cloggers from
Exeter who are known as "The Sil-
ver Threads." They provided the
residents with musical and dancing
entertainment. Those celebrating
birthdays in March included Ever-
ett Gallagher, Beatrice Tate, Isobel
Sproat, Grace Dinney, Blanche Ste-
phenson and Marjorie Carey.
Members of the Hensall Legion
Auxiliary sponsored all the March
bingos at Queensway.
Early Friday morning residents
gathered for Breakfast Club. They
enjoyed a hearty fill of sausages,
eggs, toast, fruit cocktail and cof-
fee. Breakfast discussion included
some local events covered in area
newspapers.
Later in the day was the monthly
Resident Council meeting. They
had a record attendance, including
some family members who were
visiting.
Saturday afternoon they enjoyed
a movie matinee. The feature pres-
entation was the timeless Disney
classic of Snow White and the Sev-
en Dwarfs. Everyone enjoyed the
story as well as all the music in this
movie.
Upcoming events
April 4 at 7 p.m. The Christian
Reformed Singers will visit
Queensway; April 11 at 2 p.m. Pas-
tor Wilson will officiate at the
church service; on April 12 at 4
p.m. the Supper Club will meet;
and on April 27 there will be a
birthday party at 7 p.m. with Gla-
dys VanEgmond and The Music
Makers providing entertainment.
Maple Apple
Pudding
Add a taste of Ontario maple syrup
to tender Ontario apples for this
richly rewarding dessert.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
3 apples 1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup apple juice 1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup milk
• Peel and core apples; slice into medium saucepan. Add maple
syrup and apple juice; cover and simmer for 5 min. Pour into
buttered 8 -cup baking dish. In bowl, cream together butter and
brown sugar; beat in egg.
• Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed
mixture along with milk, mixing thoroughly. Spread evenly
over apple mixture. Bake in 350 deg. F oven for 35 to 40 min.
Serves 6.

Bank donates $5,000 to Playhouse
GRAND BEND - The Huron
Country Playhouse in Stephen
Township got a shot in the arm on
Thursday morning as the Bank of
Montreal continued to support the
summer theatre in a very big way.
On the stage of the Playhouse,
John Quinn, Manager of Com-
munity Banking presented Max
Reimer, Playhouse Artistic' Di-
rector with a cheque for $5,000.
"We're really pleased to be part
of it. It's great you include us, it
works both ways," said Quinn.
The cheque is part of a four-year
commitment by the bank in which
they have pledged a total of
$20,000 to the Playhouse.
"This money will go directly into
renovations and all capital im-
provements," said Reimer while
looking over renovation blueprints
with Quinn.
Also on hand for the presentation
on Thursday were Trudy Archer
and Willi Charlton of the Grand
Bend branch of the Bank of Mon-
treal as well as Playhouse president
Shirley McIntyre.
The Playhouse is currently going
through extensive renovations to
help bring their building up to fire
rtarshall's standards. Additional
funding continues to come from
the provincial government.

Exeter Oddfellows celebrate
KIRKTON-WOODHAM - Exeter Oddfellows 25th annual dinner and
dance Friendship night was held in Kirkton Woodham Community Centre
March 25. The event marked 125th birthday of Oddfellowship in Exeter.
A delicious roast beef dinner was served by Thames Road United Church
women.
Head table included Brother Don Howe Grand Master of the Grand
Lodge of Ontario. Sister Jean Hodgen District Deputy President Rebekahs
from Huron District #23. Sister Mavis Atthill representing Pride of Huron
Rebekah Lodge #338 and husband Charles.
Noble Grand Brother Steve Corbett and wife Jenine.
Grand Master Brother Howe presented 50 year pins to Brothers Ross
Richardson and Gilbert Johns of Exeter Lodge. Winners of the share the
wealth draw were 1st Chuck Snell Exeter, 2nd Marjorie Atthill Kirkton,
3rd Corey Smith Exeter.
Entertainment for the evening was supplied by Sister Lois Bradfield of
Ingersoll impersonating Minnie Pearl. An evening of dancing to the Roya-
laires rounded out the event.
