Better known as Bev Ipsoshe was nominated for the award by Jenny Jones, Brenda Mitchell and Marcia Timmermans. The committee which consid- ered nominations included Rev. Bruce Pocock, Sue Haskett and Frank Goring. The award was presented on March 21 by deputy reeve Harry Wraith. Bev's maiden name was Huffman and she is mar- ried to Scott Anderson and they have four children. She is trained as an Early Childhood Educator and is employed at the Lucan and Disrict Co-operative nursery school and she is a past president of that or- ganization. Bev is also interested in working with children who have special needs such as those who suffer from Down's Syndrome. Her concerns have prompted her to bring these children into her home for weekend visits. Her concern of the community does not stop here. She is a volunteer driver for the Helping Hands pro- gram and has volunteered as a teaching assistant with a regular day school. She is also a leader with the Lu - can Brownies and is active in Girl Guide activities. Her husband Scott is a volunteer fireman and so she has helped with fundraising for that group and other charitable organizations. In addition, she has worked with the planning and implementing activities for children aged three to 12 years at the Lucan Commu- nity Centre. Those who recommended her for the award say, "Bev is proud to be a resident of Lucan. She is a re- sponsible and dependable person who is always wil- ing to lend a helping hand. She strongly believes in community spirit and encourages others to become involved as well." They concluded, " She works tirelessly to support the nurturing of a healthy environment for the chil- dren of Lucan. Her personal philosophy is that all children should be accepted for themselves and en- couraged to leach their full potential. As 1994 was the year of the Family, Bev, because of her interest in the family should be named Citizen of the Year." Reeve Tom McLaughlin agreed with the commit- tee's comments and added, " She has had a lot deal- ings with children and family units. The award to Bev for last year was very appropriate." • Bev Anderson, was named Lucan's first ever Citizen of the Year. Above, she receives her special award from Lucan's Deputy Reeve Harry Wraith. 11::::111000E 3.% pFF tt?aUeSTlusWeek riday Night till 9:00 pan. reduce ALL MERCforHAN- DISE. inventor' In order toh re reduced A including - ear d we have red inventory Way beds, end, All clearesea hide -a- all pISE• chairs, lov bedroom suites, wall sofas, room saites. uites, dining tables, mattresses, pictures, accessories, units, urgers, lamps, plc will be reduced 11 other carpet and vinyl flooring price.
