EXETER - Even the luck of the Irish couldn't help Dorchester last Friday as Exeter convinc- ingly downed Dorchester 3 -1 to win the Shamrock League final held in Lambeth. The Exeter Bantam Legion- aires relied on five players for 'their points as Brian Hayman, Da- vid Marshall and Tyler Bourne each had a goal while Dave Far- quhar and Matt Szabo contributed an assist. While still hot from Friday nights game, Exeter dumped Ste- phen Township in a 7 - 0 Saturday night. Joe Bierling had the shut out while Greg Geoffrey pumped in three goals. The other four goals came from Luke Sims, Brian Parsons, Brian Hayman and Brock Weiss who also con- tributed two assists. Goalie Nick Anstett, of the Raptors makes a save on Brett Hackett of the Gaters during last week's March break road hockey tournament held at the South Huron Recreation Centre. Road hockey draws many teams EXETER - The outdoor rinks have melted and the skates have been put away, but hockey is alive and well in Exeter, road hockey that is. Last week the South Huron Rec- reation Centre hosted its second an- nual road hockey tournament and despite the cool weather, a large • number of youngsters and parents turned out for the event. The tournament divided into dif- ferent age categories and traditional road hockey rules and equipment were used. The Spitfires edged the Roadkillers in the 'A' category while the Griz- zlies triumphed over the Mustangs , in the 'B' category. Tyke Wantabe's Lucan travelled to Forest on Sunday, March 26 to play Strathroy Ds:M in the 'A' cham- pionship game. Strathroy opened the scoring with a goal by Michael Oosterhuis. The Wantabe's replied with a goal from Danny Ryan. Alex Avery netted the go ahead goal after receiving a perfect pass from Danny Ryan. Lance Lefebvre increased Lucan's . lead by two after he beat the Strathroy goal - tender. Strathroy answered back with a goal by Zack Bannerman. With his second goal of the game Lance Lefebvre put Lucan ahead by two. Congratulations to the Lucan Wantabe's who are the 'A' champs of the Lambton-Middlesex Tyke League. The Wantabe's had a perfect 7-0 record during league play and went undefeated through three playoff games.Our team also had suc- cess in tournament play: Lucan, 'B' champs; Wasaga Beach, 'A' champs; Medford, 'A' runnerup; Exeter, 'A' runnerup.
