were third in the Juvenile 'A'.
The event attracted 40 teams from across the
province and for most it was the final competition
of the year. Other winners were Mt. Brydges Magic
Edges in the Four -Star division and the Dofasco
Starlights won the novice 'B'.
"It's an invitational precision competition. This is
more or Tess a fun competition to end the year for
most team.," said event chairman Brenda Smitt.
Precision skating involves a group which skates in
unison to music. It's a lot different from figure skat-
ing but the costs are joist as high.
"Precision is expensive. They practice during the
week and most coaches like them to practice more
than once a week," said Smith.
It takes a lot of practice and a lot of patience.
"It's hard because you have to skate with 19 or 20
other girls. You're skating extremely close together
so you have to watch your feet," said Carruthers.
Denise Ward is the other Lucan Ice Gems coach
and Gail Moir is the manager.
Judges on Saturday looked for certain'elements to
be performed properly such as lines, circles and
blocks.
