GRANTON - 'Wedding Fashions
Throughout the Years' was a very
successful presentation sponsored
by Unit two at the Granton United
Church on Thursday evening,
March 23 with a capacity audience
in attendance.
Judy O'Neill was the commenta-
tor and the program commenced
with two solos 'Wedding Hymn'
and 'Because' sung by Ann Bryan,
self -accompanied . on the piano.
Over fifty wedding gowns and nu-
merous bridesmaid dresses were
modelled during the hour which
followed. Some gowns on display
dated back prior to 1911 and of
special note was Jessie Shipley Bi-
lyea's gown (married in 1918),
which was modelled by her grand-
daughter Maurleen Oliver. The
gown had been made by Frances
Righty of Granton.

Don Benner, Mate ea and Bill
ltiscn.
show was proceeded with a
dessert tea served in the Masonic
Hall at 7:00.
Prizes weird won by Mary Brint-
nell, Rudli Cook, Cathie Bilyea,
Marjorie McColl, Lillian Riddell,
Betty Dann, Shirley Sheep and
Lynn Lee.

At the St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Sunday, March 26 the
Rev. Stephen Emery's lenten mes-
sage was "Jesus teaches about
God's unconditional love, accep-
tance and forgiveness.
United Church news
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday Pastor Normalie Voakes'
sermon was about "Our Prodigal
God" based on Luke 5.

Quilt set up at Queensway
HENSALL - Last week at the Queensway Nursing Home, the Hensall
Legion Auxiliary members provided a bingo program.
On Tuesday afternoon John Boyachek from the Emmanuel Baptist
Church in Exeter was the minister for the weekly church service. Special
guests who assisted with the service included Eva Laing who played the
keyboard, Sandy Boyachek and Ryan Ruttledge.
Later in the day a group of residents gathered for their supper club. They
enjoyed a fresh garden salad, sloppy joe squares and strawberry -rhubarb
pie for dessert.
Thursday morning was the traditional baking day, and while residents
nibbled and sampled rice krispie squares, they reminisced about the way
they baked without today's convenience of mixers and microwaves.
"Lassie" was the star of Thursday's afternoon matinde. Everyone en-
joyed seeing the heroics of Lassie as well as the beautiful scenery show-
cased on the big screen.
Friday afternoon there were some happy quilters as a crib size quilt was
put up in the activity room. Marg Cole engineered getting this quilt pre-
pared to work on and Joyce Pepper assisted in setting it up in the frame.
This is a long term project which the residents will work away at.
Upcoming
Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m. their will be a party to celebrate March
birthdays; Friday, March 31 the Resident Council will be at 11 a.m.; and
on Monday, April 3 at 10 a.m. the Volunteer Auxiliary will meet.

Granton WI
Florence Bryan was the hostess
for the Granton• Women's Institute
meeting on Tuesday afternoon,
March 21, which commenced with
a dessert tea.
The roll call was answered with a
hint from a green thumb to a green
horn and the motto was 'sow seeds
of kindness and reap a wealth of
happiness.'
Florence McRobert read the 'In
Memoriam' poem for a deceased
member and also convened the pro-
gram on the topic of Agriculture.
An article on 'meat is just a part of
the pork industry' was read and
poems entitled 'The Milk Produc-
er', 'For Sale', 'When I was a kid',
'Just a line to say I'm living' and
'Inflationary Farm Wisdom' were
also given.
Muriel Lewis chaired the meet-
ing and opened with a reading
Promises of Spring'. Business in-
cluded a donation to the next Gran-
ton 4-H club project which will be.

Granton and Mary Bowman for-
merly of Granton, both of whom
are recovering in St. Marys Memo-
rial Hospital.
The Granton Minor Ball Regis-
tration will be held at 10 a.m. until
noon on Saturday, April 1 at the
Granton Community Park Pavilion.
Gordon and Doreen McRobert
spent six weeks during the winter
at their place in Florida.
Chum and Joan Hayden enjoyed
a winter vacation in Arizona.
