Ladies group theme
"Women of the Bible"
HENSALL - The United Church
Ladies Group met Thursday after-
noon, March 2 at 2 p.m. Elva For-
rest opened the meeting with a
poem, followed by prayer.
Rena Caldwell used the devo-
tional theme - "Women of the
Bible". Rena spoke of the impor-
tant roles of women in the church:
the lives of Mary and Martha. sis-
ters of Lazarus.;- Jesus' Mother
Mary; Mary Magdalene; Mary, the
mother of James and Joanna; and
many others. Rena closed the de-
votion with prayer and the hymn
"Faith of our Fathers" was sung.
The offering was given and dedi-
cated by Elva Forrest. The hymn
"How Glorious Zion's Courts Ap-
pear" was sung.
The minutes of the February
meeting and correspondence were
read. Twenty-five visits were
made. Hilda Payne gave a humor-
ous reading "Being an Adult".
Mary Roobol sent seven cards.
The executive planned the pro-
grams for the remainder of the
year and these were accepted.
The Hymn "Blest be the Tic
That Binds" was sung followed by
the Benediction. Mary Roobol and
Hilda Payne served lunch. The
group then watched a video.

The Hensall Sunset Seniors held
their meeting March 14 at Hensall
United Church. President Helen
McKay welcomed everyone, 17

Country Homemakers and appreci-
ation was expressed to Max Du-
charme's Orchestra, for playing at
the birthday party at Huronview.
The April meeting will be April 4
at 6 p.m. with a pot luck dinner.
An invitation to the Legion's Daf-
fodil Tea, April 12 was received.
Lunch was served by Evelyn
Flynn, Stewart and Irene Black-
well and Anita Bengough.
Winners of the cards were Isabel
Rogerson, Pearl Taylor. high; Eve-
lyn McBeath, Stewart Blackwell,
low; Vera Smale, lone hands.The
Hensall and District Horticultural
Society met March 13 at the Hen-
sall United Church. The group
opened the meeting with the sing-
ing of "0 Canada". accompanied
by Janet Mowat.
As this was new member night,
new members were asked to intro-
duce themselves to the group.
Sybille Schaufler introduced the
speaker Susan Handcrer, of Su-
san's Greenhouses, in Crediton.
After speaking on spring planting,
Susan invited questions from the
audience. President Ann Ovetweel
thanked Susan for the informative
presentation. The meeting closed
and the draws were held. The win-
ners of the draws were Dianne Ger-
stenkorn, Jenny Kipfer, Sybille
Schaufler and Dorothy Brintnell.
Lunch was served, under the direc-
tion of Mary Kinsman.
Rev. Henry Annen conducted tl.c
service at Hensall United Church,
this past Sunday. The greeter was
Hazel Corbett. The ushers were Ce-
cil Pepper and Garry Alderdice,
Rev. Annen's message was "The
Secret Ingredient of Success," the
Childrens story was "We Have
Roots".
The Friendship Circle will meet
April 3 at 8 p.m.
The Afternoon Ladies Group will
meet April 6 at 2 p.m.
