Granton youth enjoy craft sessions The Optimist Club sponsored the craft days during March break. By Muriel Lewis GRANTON - The Optimist Club sponsored Crafts for the Kids at the Masonic Hall during the March break, when between 29 and 35 at- tended each day. Becky Kindree assisted by Cathie Westman and several parents and one grandparent helped the children make Suncatchers and bracelets on Monday, lion and bunny finger puppets and butterfly magnets on Tuesday and sheep and leprechaun magnets on Wednesday. One older child even tackled a more compli- cated and costlier dreamcatcher. The cost for the crafts was canned goods and two boxes were taken to the Battered Women's House in London. The Optimist luncheon and eu- chre was convened by Becky Kin- dree on Friday at the Masonic Hall. Prizes for high scores were won by Pennie Kindree and Glenn Blake and everyone got a prize just for being there. Scott Delorme of Ottawa and Kimberly Smith of Deerborn, Michigan spent the weekend at the former's home at Lucan and at- tended the St. Thomas' Anglican Church on Sunday and also visited with their friend Robert Parkinson and his mother Elizabeth. At the St. Thomas' Anglican church on Sunday, March 19 Rev. Stephen Emery led the service of Holy Communion. His message was about the wilderness journey based on Psalm 63 when one loses touch with God and tries to get back on track. The parish bible study group met at Nadene Bcdell's on Wednesday, March 15. At the Granton United Church on Sunday Pastor Normalie Voakes sermon was entitled Untapped Power based on Isaiah 53, I Corin- thians 10 and Luke 13. UC W Unit four met at Norah Wissel's home on Thursday evening, March 16. The leader Marilyn Humphrey read the scripture from Mark and It opened the devotions with a read- I ing about John the Baptist and "It was Ash Wednesday", followed by prayer. Business included discussing some upcoming events. Betty Dann presented the pro- gram when she read about the Para- ble of the Fig Tree and a reading Lofty Life Lessons, closing with a poem Signs of Spring. After the benediction and grace, a social time was enjoyed over refresh- ments. Antique show in Lucan Large crowds attended the weekend antique show at the Lucan Com- munity Centre.
