Plans now underway_ for Foodgrains corn project CENTRALIA - In recent years community growing projects, for the Ca- nadian Foodgrains Bank, have become a very real, hands on approach, of doing mission in our ever shrinking world. The Seaforth Growing Project, sponsored by five Seaforth area churches has become famous for its suc- cess. This growing season, the Thames Road-Elimville charge, and the Cen- tralia -Zion West congregations are joining together to begin the "South Huron Foodgrains Project". These four, local, rural churches are planning to grow approximately 30 acres of corn, for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank on two local properties. The largest plot is along Huron County Road 4, just west of Highway 4 on land rented from Mr. and Mrs. Don McCurdy, and the second is on County Road 11 in Usborne township on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Herm. Foodgrains projects throughout Canada, are traditionally done in part- nership with a group of various faith communities as well as mission pro- jects. For this reason, the organizing committee for this new project in the South Huron area has sent a letter of invitation to neighbouring United Churches, as well as two London congregations, and one church in Hamil- ton. Part of the success of these projects lies in the work and worship con- cept at the local level. One of the organizers, Margaret Hern adds, "We are very pleased to receive a positive response from Calvary United Church in London, and St. John's in Hamilton has requested a presentation by our committee." The congregations involved in this challenge welcome support from anyone who might wish to help along the way. Questions can be directed to committee chair Margaret Hern of Zion or secretary -treasurer Brent Caslick of Centralia. DOUG REYCRAFT Middlesex Campaign Office 3 Centre Street Strathroy, On.
