CENTRALIA - Heather Smith
led the worship at Centralia United
Church on Sunday, March 12. The
theme she chose was faith in fol-
lowing God, even though we don't
always know where He will lead.
She thanked Larry Skinner for •
making the Tenebrae triads and
barbed wire wreaths for the Lenten
season at Zion and Centralia. She
also thanked Margaret Hern, Jean
Caslick and Audrey McFalls for
making the Lenten banners for the
Children's Time.
Prayers were offered for Sharon
Bruhls, Bob Blair, Bill Morley,
Charles Tindall, and Ontario Street
United Church. Also in the prayers
was Marg Cook, whose brother Jim
passed away in Florida recently.

Squares
Recipes from my Grandmother bring
back many fond memories: arriving for a
visit to smell steak and roasted potatoes,
white bread of buns fresh from the oven and the
counter loaded with our favourites! This recipe represents the
grandkids favourite. It was always gone in a yummy flash.
Enjoy Grandma's Purdy's squares.
In a large bowl:
2 cups cornflakes
2 cups cheerios or krispies
1 cup peanuts
In saucepan:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup syrup (BeeHive corn)
• Bring to a hill boil and boil one full minute. Remove from
heat and add 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 cup peanut butter. Stir to
melt peanut butter. Pour over cereal and mix till well coated.
Press into greased 9x13 pan. When cold cut in squares. Freezes
welt (although it never makes it to our freezer!)

`Buddies' entertain
ZURICH - Tuesday morning the grade five buddies from St. Boniface
School visited the residents at Blue Water Rest Home to play Irish word
games, sing Irish songs and discussed the colour green and how the Irish
are associated with that colour.
In the afternoon Bible Study was held in the Chapel under the direction
of Rev. Gani Lazaro.
In the evening the Auxilary visited the Home with Mary Lou Erb as
Chairperson. The Seaforth Harmony Hi-Lites entertained the residents in
their black, green and white uniforms. Cathy Shantz and Mary Lou Erb
gathered with their choir to sing many of their favourite songs - "Grand-
ma's Feathered, Are You from Dixie" and "Bring Back the Sunshine."
Lunch was grved by Marilee Ayotte, Verde Beachler, Joyce Brisson, Lau-
rene Corriveau, Mary Ducharme and Erb.
Monday afternoon the residents enjoyed the video of the "Beverly Hill-
billies."
Pastor Peter Baldwin, St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich conduct-
ed Thursday afternoon Chapel service. Fr. Matthias Wronksi, St. Boniface
Church, Zurich celebrated Mass.
Friday Leonard Erb celebrated his 84th birthday and his family visited in
the evening with cake, ice cream and cupcakes to share with the residents
after a hearty game of bingo. Sharon/Bob Erb, Doug/Marilyn Dick, Rich-
ard/Mary Erb, John/Ruth Erb, Robert/Leanne Erb and Alice Gingerich
helped in the celebration.
The residents look forward to entertainment by Mozart Gelinas Sr. and
Gladys Van Egmond on March 15 at their Wednesday afternoon tea. On
St. Patrick's Day the residents and staff will be bringing out the green in
their wardrobe and hopefully with all the beautiful weather lately, so will
Mother Nature.

In March each year, we like to highlight Poison
Prevention. It's a time to raise awareness of
the causes of poisoning in the home. Look at
your home from a child's point of view and
see if cleansers, medications and other po-
tential poisons are safely out of reach. It
could save a life.
Those tiny button batteries used in calculators and watches can
present a poison risk to young children. Be sure to dispose of
them safely.
When using those effervescent tablets like calcium, Vitamin C or
Alka Selzer, allow the bubbles to cease before drinking. No more
bubbles means the tablet is fully dissolved which will enhance
absorption.
By the way, Alka-Selzer is mainly A.S.A. and Sodium Bicarbonate.
So if you shouldn't have any A.S.A. or take In too much sodium,
you probably shouldn't use Alka-Selzer.
Did you know that a pharmacist is now able to be a guarantor on
your passport application? If we've known you for a while, we
would be glad to perform this service for you.
