Exeter Legion Peewees closer to OMHA semi-finals
EXETER - A very late goal on Sunday afternoon has the Exeter
Legion peewees closer to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association
'CC semi-finals.
Jeff Campbell with his team -leading 17th post -season goal had
one tally against visiting Dresden with the others from Jason Grenier
and Scott Keys, both who also had assists in the slim 3-2 win. Barry
Parsons helped set up a goal.
Exeter travelled to Dresden last night (Tuesday) where they were
hoping to wrap up the six -point series and advance to the semis
against either Mitchell or Durham.
Saturday in Dresden, Grenier went on a tear as he had a big five -
point game, netting the hat trick and setting up two others in a big 7-
4 win. Campbell had two goals and two assists while Kian Mac-
Dougall scored once and set up three more.
Just coming off an injury, Chad Monteith continues to get his
strength back as he had a goal with assists to Keys, Jared Bourne
and Tim Maver.
The series opened last Wednesday in Exeter which saw the hosts
slip behind 2-0 fairly early but comeback and battle Dresden to a 7-7
draw.
Campbell had two goals and an assist while Keys had the hat trick
and set up another. Mike Seip and Craig Overholt connected while
Grenier had three assists.
Fragiskatos nets hattrick for Exeter AE
EXETER - The semi-finals have started for Exeter Huron Tractor
as they beat visiting New Hamburg 6-4 in their OMHA peewee ad-
ditional entry playoffs on Sunday.
Peter Fragiskatos scored three goals with singles from Ryan
Ralph, Brandon Martin and Bob Hamilton. Ralph had a good game
as he added two assists while Rob DeVries helped set up three and
Dave Veal had a pair of setups. Also helping out on the goals were
Sieve Rasenberg and Martin.
Last Tuesday night Exeter beat Durham 6-0 to win the quarter-
final series. Wayne Cole and DeVries each netted a pair of tallies
with singles to Rasenberg and Fragiskatos. Martin had three assists
while Ralph, Dan Snell and Fragiskatos helped out on the goals.
Stephen Atom Sonics lead series
CLIFFORD - Jesse Schroeder scored with 26 seconds left in regu-
lation time to give the Stephen Township Sonics a 3-2 win over host
Clifford on Sunday.
The win gave the Sonics a two -games -to -none lead in their
OMHA atom 'E' quarter -final series which also doubles as the West-
ern Ontario Athletic Association championship.
Schroder's goal was set up by Brayden Lord who collected his
third point of the game as he teamed up with Brian Dixon for the
other Stephen goals.
The six -point series returned to the Stephen Township Arena in
Huron Park last night (Tuesday) and if a fourth game is necessary it
will be in Clifford on Saturday.
In the opener played Friday, Clifford scored first but that would be
the only puck to get past Stephen goalie Gary Sauder. Schroeder,
Scott Davies and Colin Sauder scored in the 3-1 Smiles win. Lord
and Henny Pfaff each had two assists.
Midget Generals face Mitchell
LAMBETH - Chris McDonald set up two goals on Friday as the
RSD Generals edged host Lambeth 2-1 to win their OMHA midget
'CC' quarter -final series.
The Generals now advance to meet Mitchell who eliminated Sea -
forth on the weekend. As of presstime, game times and dates of the
next series were not confirmed.
Exeter won the first game of the series agaisnt Lambeth 4-2, lost
the second 4-1 and came back last Wednesday with another 4-2 win.
In last Wednesday's game, Moir led the way with four goals for the
Generals who led 3-1 after the fust period.
