Polkaroo at hospital
Polka Dot Door has come to the South Huron Hospital. Last week Ray Dilling from TV Ontario visited the hospital to
present a collection of six videotapes and a Polkaroo hand puppet to the pediatric ward staff. The donation, sponsored by
the Wood Gundy Charitable Foundation and Novopharm Ltd., is part of a program to distribute the videos and puppets to
145 Ontario hospitals to make children's stays more pleasant. from left are Mary Lynn Hetherington, Dilling, Jean Elliott,

Pupils present speeches to parents
Seven speeches
were given by senior
pupils.

ZURICH - The St. Boniface
School P.T.A. meeting was held on
February 16. Principal Laurie
Kraftcheck introduced seven senior
students who presented their
speeches. The winners were: first,
Steven Dawe; second, Charlie Rau
and third, Sarah VanAaken.
P.T.A. president Jerry Neilands
chaired the meeting. Minutes were
read by Casina DeBont and the
treasurer's report was given by
Marilyn Kenda.
Parents are asked to send in a do-
nation to support the P.T.A. by
February 24, instead of having a
fundraising project.
The next babysitting course will
begin the end of March.
Kraftcheck showed members a
new Home and School magazine
that the parents might like. It is
available to look at in the library.
If anyone can help out on hot dog
days from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. they
are to phone Carol Prang at 236-
4661.
Golden Agers
The Golden Agers are planning
to have a progressive euchre party
/ at the township hall on Monday,
February 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Lunch will follow. Everyone wel-
come.
Elimination draw
The St. Boniface K. of C. Elimi-
nation Draw and Karaoke fun night
will be held this Friday, February
24 from 9:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the
Zurich Community Centre.
Dog tags
The dog tags for 1995 will soon
be due. If you have a new dog in
the village of Zurich and one not al-
ready on the list, phone Carmel
Sweeney, 236-4702.
Appreciation dinner
Last Thursday at noon hour, the
grade eight students of St. Boniface
School, along with their teacher
Patti Welsch prepared and served a
delicious appreciation dinner to
several volunteers at the school,
who help with various things
throughout the year.
Also present were the teachers,
monitors, bus drivers, and custodi-
ans. The gym was nicely decorated
for the occasion.
Boys Club
The Boys Club Ili the Mennonite
Church enjoyed a nice sunny win-
ter day in the snow on Sunday as
they went tobogganing at the Pin-
ery near Grand Bend.
Mennonite Church women
On Tuesday, February 21 the
women of the Mennonite Church
held an all -day working blitz to tie
several comforters to be given to
relief centres.
Everyone brought along a brown
bag lunch and were treated to a hot
supper at the church hall for all
their hard work, which was pre-
pared by some of the women.
Line dancing
For those interested in line danc-
ing, it is now being held on
Wednesday mornings at the Zurich
Community Centre beginning at
10:30 a.m.
Heinz labels
The Optimist Club members are
asking anyone with babies to save
the Heinz labels off the baby food
jars as they are collecting them for
a project.
Bean Sprouts
The Bean Sprouts Nursery
School are taking orders for Regal
to raise money. If you need any
cards or other items phone Carolyn
Mathonia at 236-4388 as soon as
possible.
Ag Society
Some members of the Fair Board
attended the Agricultural Society
Convention held in Toronto at the
Royal York Hotel from February
14to16.
Secretary -treasurer Margaret
Deichert and husband Claire along
with Heather Klopp and last year's
fair queen Sabrina Schilbe were
representatives from Zurich as well
as fair queens Michelle Ducharme
from Exeter and Anne Kerslake
from Hensall.

Eighteen members of the E.L.W.
of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Zu-
rich met on the evening of Valen-
tine's Day.
A picture of the group was taken
following the business. The pic-
ture, along with a brief history of
its 10 years as an E.L.W., are to be
presented at the London conference i
in April.

Prayer, March 3; Making quilts on
March 14, beginning at 9 a.m. with
brown bag lunch at noon and pot-
luck supper followed by a short
meeting.
Audrey Haberer and Pearl
Heimerich presented a program of
hymns, telling the group about the
composers, their life experiences
which inspired the writing of
hymns of praise, contemplation,
comfort and rest, faith and special
occasions during the church year.
This was followed by "guess the
name of the hymn" with references
to Love. The winner was Marie
Deichert.
A valentine -decorated cake pre-
pared by Audrey Haberer was
served with ice cream for lunch
along with tea and coffee.
Senior Diners
A delicious dinner was served to
forty Zurich Senior Diners Febru-
ary 15 at the Community Centre.
Ila O'Rourke was the 50/50 win-
ner. A poem, Winter Evenings, was
read by Elizabeth Granger. A sing-
song was enjoyed with Phyllis
Deichert as pianist. Solo and eu-
chre was enjoyed.
