Skevington is taking her warning message to all watershed schools as part of the ABCA's Flood- water Awareness program. Hensall Legion awards Life Memberships Eight members re- ceived the honour. By Liz Sangster HENSALL - Hensall Legion members held their annual meeting February 8. A motion was passed to make a donation to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters bowl-a-thon. A dona- tion was also made to Melinda Ho- vius to help her meet expenses when sti,r4ge,i to Ottawa with 'En- counters with Canada'. February 14, the Legion and La- dies Auxiliary will be entertaining the residents at the Queensway Nursing Home with a Valentine party. Public speaking will be held at the Legion February 21. February 11, in spite of poor weather conditions, there was a good turnout for a social hour, din- ner and to honour eight of the le- gion members with Life Member- ships. Congratulations from the Branch to William Bell, F.oy Brock, Dr. John Goddard, John McAllister, Dave Smale, Bea UyI and Peter Zwaan, who have been hard-working, dedicated members over the years. Unable to attend was Stan Kochan. who will receive his Life Membership'at a later date. United Church news Rev. Henry Annen conducted services at Hensall United Church, this past Sunday. Doug Klopp was the organist. The greeters were De- anna and Dave Brock, the ushers were Jeff Butson and Raye Jacobe. Communion was served and; the communion hymn sung. Rev. An- nen's message was "Broken Hy- drants". Trustees presented to the congregation were Dave Brock, Kay Mock and Jerry Drysdale. Bible Study will be held at the Hensall United Church February 21 at 1:30 p.m. The Official Board will meet February 15. The committees meet at 7:;i0 p.m., the full board meet at Red Italian S Spaghetti This recipe comes from an old recipe book of my moral's. The book is tattered and worn all around this page (I guess we have used it alot!). As a young bride, I used this recipe to serve must company. It has been a hit cverytime! In a large pot put: • 10 oz. tomato soup • 18 oz. tomato paste • 20 oz. tomatoes • Handful Parmesan cheese • 1/2 cup white sugar • Pinch chili peppers • 3 tbsp parsley • 1/2 tsp each of: oregano, poultry dressing, sage, nutmeg and thyme In a large frypan fry: • 1 lb. hamburg (saute 1st before adding vegetables) • 2 large onions • 2 garlic cloves • 1 cup celery • 1/2 tsp pepper • 1-1/2 tsp salt After cooking separately combine and cook three hours on simmer stirring occasionally. Serve over spaghetti noodles and enjoy! The members compared and investigated four different loaves of bread and practised judging them. There was a store bought iloaf, a homemade loaf, a bread machine made loaf as welt as a loaf of bread that had fallen while baking. The whole process of judging was a very educational but delicious journey! The group then tried their own hand at creating different shaped buns. There were some very crea- tive creatures and shapes that were transformed from the sweet dough.
