A Valentine's Dance in Hensall Friday evening was organized
by the village's Optimist Club at the community centre. Some
65 children and teens aged 7-16, in two age groups attended
the event. All proceeds raised during the evening will be do-
nated to the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario.

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Jim Allsop was in charge of the regular church
service on Sunday morning.
The Responsive Reading was taken from the Service Book "Providential
Purpose" from Psalm 138.
The children's hymn "Come, Children Join to Sing" was sung and Rev.
Allsop told the children's story "We Believe God Is Present. Here in Our
Service". Rev. Allsop read from the Old Testament Isaiah 6: 1-8 from the
New Testament 1 Corinthians 15: 1-11 and from the Gospel of Luke 5: I-
ll.
Coming events
On Wednesday February 15 there will be a joint session at 7 p.m. fol-
lowed by the official hoard meeting at 8 p.m. at Elimville United Church.
The joint session and meeting will include the trustees, elders, board of
managers, treasurers, Sunday School superintendent and the UCW repre-
sentatives.
On Sunday February 19 Senior Youth Group for Grades 7-9. First meet-
ing at Thames Road from 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Elimville's annual meeting was held on Sunday. All reports were well
received. They supported Thames Road's plans for printing next year's re-
ports.

Get well wishes are extended to Edna Kleinfeldt who fell and broke her
wrist, and toJanice Webber who fell and broke her leg. -
Tom and Pat Mahon and Fred of near Lobo visited on Sunday with Mrs.
Jean Hodgen.
Mrs. Kay Morley received word on Monday morning that her sister-in-
law the late Maida (Morley) Bowman had passed away.
Musical
events

HENSALL - Everyone watched
with anticipation for the results of
Groundhog Day to find out if we
would get another six weeks of
winter and we have been paying
for it ever since. Fortunately we
have only had to cancel one activi-
ty thus far.
We have had a variety of musical
events to keep everyone enter-
tained during these wintery days.
The Men's Choir from the Exeter
Christian Reformed Church per-
formed their program. Also the reg-
ular choir from the same church
came in for their monthly presenta-
tion.
Early Thursday morning, a group
of residents gathered for a break-
fast club. They enjoyed a hearty
serving of eggs and bacon, toast,
juice aqd coffee. Later in the day,
the youjtg girls in Calvinettes came
to visit and share their valentines
with all the residents. They also
sang a'musical program to entertain
the relidents.

Kippen UCW. February 23 at 7
p.m. Birthday party with Kim. Feb-
ruary 27 at 8 a.m. Breakfast Club.

council.

Exeter UCW afternoon unit meets
EXETER - Alma Langford pre-
sided at the February 9 meeting of
the afternoon unit of the U.C.W.
She read a valentine poem was
read.
Members repeated the purpose
and roll call was answered by a
'Love' verse. The March roll call is
to be something on 'Spring Time'.
Gifts were brought for Phoenix
House.
World Day of Prayer is to be held
March 3 at Coven Church. The
smorgasbord is set for May 4. The
U.C.W. anniversary is to be on
April 23. Langford read of a couple
working in Negal. They are not
called missionaries but are helping
people by showing them how to
make stoves to cook on and make
life much better for them day by
day.
Jean Murray led devotions on
prayer. The group sang '0 Master
Let Me Walk with Thee'. Murray
commented on the good church li-
brary. She read of how much the
group should pray for Russian chil-
dren, even though they can't help
in other ways. The disciples helped
many people by their prayers.
Prayer followed. Verla Allan gave
a valentine prayer. Josie played a
love song on the piano.
A skit "Didn't I get your letter"
was performed. Scripture was read
from Acts 4. Veda Allan, Marion
Porter, Ida McBride, Laura Si fiery
and Janet Baker helped. A hymn
'Wonderful Words of Life' was
sung . and the benediction was fol-
lowed by lunch.
