On Sunday, February 19, from 1-4 p.m. the Town and Country Lanes in Zu- rich will be host to a Ce- lebrity Bowlathon in which a number of municipal leaders and workers, mer- chants, industrial leaders, service club officers, ed- ucators and Big and Little Brothers and Sisters will be sponsored to bowl a game, raising money for the or- ganization. Jim Chapman, chair of the Bowl for Millions com- mittee in Exeter, is encour- aging members of the pub- lic to sponsor a bowler that week, or to come down and watch the celebrity game on the final Sunday. Also, members of the lo- cal bowling leagues at the Zurich and. Lucan Lanes be bowling a game during that week with the proceeds going to Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. Big Brothers and Big Sis- ters South Huron started in June 1982 to provide vol- unteer help to children aged 6-16 growing up in single parent families. Zurich competitors Three Zurilchre skaters did well at the Great Lakes Competition in London last weekend. Watch for them at the H.O.M.E com- petition In Exeter this weekend, Champions in Zurich By Ron Dann ZURICH - Zurich Town and Country's number one combina- tion of two Youth Bowling Coun- cil (YBC) boys, aged 10 and un- der, and two senior adult men pulled together to win the Dairy Queen Kids and Golden Agers Re- gional, male division three game, pins over average Championship Saturday at Ridgetown. They were coached by Master Bowler Mike Cregan. Golden Ager Ken Reid inspired his team with games of 207,259 and 191 for a 657 triple and 219 pins over his 146 personal average while the two 10 -year-old boys Lance Bedard and Ryan Rood add- ed 76 and 48 pins over their re- spective 106 and 116 YBC averag- es together with Golden Agers' Bert Barry's 33 pins over his 126 average as the team won the title with 376 pins over, for an exciting 17 pin edge over a determined Wallaceburg team. Zurich's second mate team of seven-year-old boys Timmy Hay. and Corey Ducharme with 81 and 43 pins over their respective 86 and 79 YBC averages along with Golden Agers Milt Robbins, plus five, and Milt Glendenning, minus 21, with Zurich Association and YBC coach Ron Dann, took 6th place with 108 pins over its team average. Town and Country's first female team, paced by Ashlee Littlechild, (9), and Katie Beaudoin (7) with 114 and 36 pins over their respec- tive 85 and 72 YBC averages along with Golden Agers Pat Veal and Gretta Richards adding respec- tive minus's of 15 and one pins, won second place with plus 134 in the female division, coached by Master Bowler Bev Cregan and hosted by Town and Country lanes. Zurich's second team, with Zu- rich Assoication and YBC Coach Jean Dann, finished third with plus 117 pins led by Anita Klaassen and Lindsey Van Damme at 105 and 30 pins over their respective 86 and 99 YBC averages plus Go - den Agers Betty Sangster, eight and under and Elaine Weido, 10 under their respective 177 and 160 averages. The female division was woe* Wallaceburg's second team witil% whopping 393 pins over its team average. The male and female champs now advance ot the Onta- rio Kids and Golden Agers Cham- pionships, February 19 at Wallace - burg from where the Provincial winnersr travel, expenses paid, to the National finals, April 8-9 at Surrey, British Columbia. Molesworth's Lindsey Matheson bowled an inspiring 373 single game and a 1,540 six -game (256 per game average) total in a deter- mined effort to lead Bluewater 5 - Pin Bowlers' Association (OFP- BA) Youth Challenge Regional Ti- tle last week at Kitchener. Goderich's Krystal Sanders, Mo- lesworth's Evelyne Matz and Jan- ice Gilbert along with Clinton's Leisha Mustard, Bluewater's ladies team had to settle for second place with 27 points, jsut seven behind Champion Grand River in the six - game, double round robin . match - play, pins over average competi- tion. A second Molesworth howler, Scott Stevens, rolled a hot 362 game highest in th OFPBA male division as he was joined with Goderich's Jason Nakamura and Danny Taylor, plus Clinton's Ke- vin Trewartha and Listowel's Cameron McConnell on the Blue - water men's team 1br third place finish behind champion Grand Riv- er.
