Kent Hardy Exeter Minor Hockey 1 January 22 - Seafonh tournament Game Exeter 2 vs. Seaforth 1 Goals: Scott Ralph Overholt Assist: Tim Snell Goaltender: Chris Desjardine Scott Ralph put the Broncos up 1-0 with 1:50 remaining to the first when he was sent in on a breakaway on a great pass by Tim Snell. Kevin Overholt scored what proved to be the eventual winner with 7:08 left in the third. As he shot from an impossible angle from the corner that hit the goalie in the skate and went in. Seafprth made the game very interesting when they finally beat the hot Bronco goalie Chris Desjardine with 1:58 remaining. Seaforth pulled their goalie but could not get one by Desjardine. January 22 - Championship final Exeter 1 vs. Strathroy 9 Goal: Weiss Assist: Meidinger Goaltenders: Farwell, Desjardine The Broncos ran into a very tough Strathroy squad who didn't get on track until the sec- ond period. Strathroy scored early to go ahead 1-0 but the Broncos replied only 44 seconds later as Daryl Weiss converted a pass from Tim Meidinger. Strathroy scored two late goals to go up 3-1 and never turned back. Great day Broncos! January 22 Thedford 3 at Exeter 2 Goals: Overholt. Meidinger Assists: Kerslake (2), Daryl Bourne Goaltenders: Farwell, Desjardine The Broncos dominated the game but did not get any breaks around the Thedford net. Theo Future game: Jan. 29. vs. Zurich, 1st round playoffs, 4:00 p.m. at Huron Park Win, tie, loss for Hensall at Exeter tournament EXETER - Although they yanked goalie Dave Long from the net, the Hensall Oldtimers couldn't get another goal and had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Cashes Old Mouldies at the Annual Exeter Molting Hawks Oldtimers Hockey Tournament on.the week- end. Sunday afternoon in their final game of pre- liminary pool play, Hensall needed a win to ad- vance to the Draft division finals. Long made some good saves and Leroy Gould and Dennis Martin scored but it just wasn't enough. tIensall opened the three-day tournament with a 5-0 loss to Sweaty's Whalers but bounced back to beat Muller's Milkers 5-4. Scoring for Hensall in the win were Pied Campbell with two, Martin, Al Tay- lor and Ed Hern. Winning the Draft division was the Old Mouldies as they hung on for a slim 2-1 win over Sweaty's Whalers. There were 16 teams in the four division annual tournament The !bur final games had both a referee and two linesmen doing the officiating and all games were two, 15 -minute periods. In the other division finals. CFB Old Devils beat Bridgestone Blades 3-0 as Warren King netted a pair to help the Devils win the Blue division final. Rick Fifield fired two as Mitchell Snails topped Co- runna Sharks 4-1 in the Crystal final. Taking the Ice final was Pete's Sports with a 3-1' win over Strat- Oldtimers action continues on February 10-12 in Moncton when the Molting Hawks are in a tourna- ment which will put them against Mitchell, Zurich and Wellesley. Mitchell at Exeter, 7:00 Legion peewees get a little rest OMHA playoffs 1995 EXETER - Four wins in as many starts means the Exeter Legion peewees will get a bit of a break from Ontario Minor Hockey As- sociation playoff action. Last Wednesday night in Exeter, both Jeff Campbell and Kian MacDougall fired one goal and set up three more in a big 9-1 win over visiting Lambeth in round-robin 'CC' action. Also scoring were Scott Keys who banged in two and set up an- other while Ryan Groot, Tim Maver, Mike Seip, Jason Grenier and Craig Overholt all had one goal. Two nights later in Ridgetown the score was a lot closer but it was still in favor of Exeter as they won 4-3. Campbell, Keys and Grenier all had a goal and an assist while Maver scored and Overholt and Groot added assists. Exeter finishes first in the five -team round-robin format and will now wait for other series winners to be determined. Lines from Lucan Lanes LUCAN - The zone round for Hiram Walkers Special Old High - Low doubles was recently held at Lucan Lanes. This is a pins over average tournament for those who qualifed from league play. The win- ners of this tournament were Laurie McGee and Pat Holland from the Lucan Men's league as they fin- ished 215 pins above their league average. Laurie bowled a 788 triple, 161 pins over his 209 league average while Pat finished at 687, which was plus 54 over his 211 av- erage. Placing second was Marg El- son and Pat Davis from the Lucan ladies league with a plus 159, and coming in third at plus 138 were John Jaques and Carolyn Horner, the winners from Sunday Mixed. On February 25, Laurie and Pat will represent Lucan at the Provin- cial finals of the Special Old cham- pionships at Sherwood Lanes in Hamilton.
