But, oh so good! My morn fed four children and a husband very well and this is one of my favourites. It feeds a hungry family and any left overs can be frozen for a hearty lunch. Mom would sometimes put homemade dumplings on top just before serving. 1 cheat! 1 use Bisquick! Good eating! 2 or 3 small soup bones or 1 large one 2 tbsp beef bovril 4 med potatoes largely diced 4 lg. carrots sliced 1 small turnip cubed 2 med. cooking onions chopped 3 stalks celery chopped 1/4 head of cabbage cut up (optional) 1 lg. clove garlic minced (optional) 1/4 cup pot barley 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp sweet basil 2 bay leaves 1 tsp seasoned salt salt and pepper to taste • Cook soup bones, covered in water in a large pot until meat is tender. Remove bones to platter and let cool. To beef broth add all the rest of ingredients and meat off soup bones and simmer slowly for 3 to 4 hours, until all flavours are blended. Keep tasting to see if you need more spices to your taste. Lou Dixon, Centralia Ont. Dashwood WI DASHWOOD - The Dashwood Women's Institute was held Janu- ary 3 with the conveners. Brenda Sheppard and Alice Tieman in charge of the international Affairs meeting. The roll call was to bring a newspaper clipping about another country. A newsletter was read from Donna Russett, Provincial President. Each member received a date book and the yearly events. During the program the motto was given by Brenda itemizing "gifts that shouldn't be given". Following a couple of jokes the topic "The Maple Leaf Forever..." ever reminded us of the Targe flag at Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 74 which is treasured by travellers as a land- mark, barometer, time piece, and the Maple Leaf forever....ever. Members were puzzled by many Penny Brain Teasers. The game "Happy Faces" brought out many cheerful remarks. Janice L Stewart C. Ped. Family seeking donations Dawn McFalls is hoping to raise money to send her son to. a Florida conference on his rare disease EXETER - The mother and grandmother of a two-year old Exeter boy are asking the community for support in sending him to Florida so more can be learned about a rare disease he suffers from. Dawn McFalls and her mother Pat Wallace are trying to raise the $1,000 necessary to attend a conference in Florida, February 24-28 that might provide some critical insight about Kyle disease known as hi tiocytosis. " Nothing strikes fear in the heart of a patient like the word 'chemo- therapy', and when the patient is your young child, the fear can be overwhelming," said Wallace. Kyle's grandmother. Histiocytosis, a mysterious and sometimes fatal disease. is often treated with chemothcraphy when a child is diagnosed with it. The disease has several forms, which primarily affect children, but can involve adults. FEL, or FHLH, is the most serious life- threatening form involving very young children. Other fothts of this group of diseases include SHML, pulmonary histiocytosis, eo- sinophillic granuloma, to name just a few. The ailments are known in medical circles as "orphan diseases" because they affect too few people (about one in 300,000) to gener- ate rnuch research. However, a group of parents and adult patients are now working together with scientists to find better treatments and a cure. The Histiocytosis Association has been able to fund over 27 research projects into the disease. Anyone interested in helping Kyle McFalls can contact his mother Dawn at 235-0029, or Pat Wallace at 235-0634. 1, Ragu Spaghetti Sauce Original Mushroom or With Meat Large 750 mL Jar 89 HEINZ TOMATO SOUP10 tu.. tins; 00 PEPSI OR 7UP Selected Varieties, Regular or Diet 2 L post Itt 750 nit rot ttL pint .400 dap. unit test 5.00 Mr 100* nit cost 7.11C par 100 ad` FIVEnoses FLOUR 99 SLUE .75 holm jrkto without mum iz.74 SII ON PM 01111.111 AR /A All L"ctia °°iaAi ALI 10111111111111110111 64311975 "twat deli r6leNNSIE PREMIUM PLUG CCRAMS BLACK FOREST NAM Sports Fan Spada per 10011 X99 458 PIM Future 11111C8 w coupon 51.38 uwina ,en,U OM Al II MIR LUNN fl,.
