We want your glue Water Auxiliary favourite recipes install new officers Hensall Drop -In set for Thursday, January 19 A topic that will interest many seniors, "Mon- ey Issues" will be the topic. By Liz Sangster HENSALL - The next Hensall Community Drop -In will be held Janu- ary 19 at the Hensall United Church. Activities include foot care at 10 a.m., lunch at noon, public health consultation, exercise and a topic that will interest many seniors, "Money Issues". The day will end with card games. The cost is $4 per person for meal and program. Reserve by phoning Margaret Cole (262-2304) or Faye Skinner at Town and Country Homemakers (235-0258). Reservations must be made before noon, Monday. United Church news At Hensall United Church, this past Sunday, Rev. Henry Annen's mes- sage was "I Have Been Baptized". The organist was Doug Klopp, the greeter was Pat Veal and the ushers were Elaine and Wayne Corbett. Flowers were placed in the sanctuary in memory of Mervin Hayter. Rev. Henry Annen will conduct services January 12 at the Blue Water Rest Home and January 17 at Queensway. Communion will be available. The Official Board of Hensall United Church will sleet January 18. Chairs meet at 7:15, committee at 7:30 and all board at 8 p.m. i A Ministry and Personnel workshop will be held at North Street United, Goderich, January 28 or February 15 at Exeter United, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants are to bring a bag lunch. Horticultural Society The next meeting of the Hensall Horticultural Society will be held Janu- ary 16 at 8 p.m. at the Hensall United Church. Presbyterian church news Rev. Saberina Caldwell was the guest minister at Carmel Presbyterian Church this past Sunday. The P.C.W. of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their January meeting last Monday, Jan Baker welcomed everyone and read a New Year's poem. Dorothy Taylor began her duties as secretary. Janeth Sangster gave the devotion using Christian symbols as her theme. She also read a few lines in memory of the late Minnie Noakes. Dorothy Taylor was the pia- nist for the evening. A work period followed the meeting. Lunch was served by Lola Nixon and Bev Moir. The February meeting will be chaired by Marlene Bell. With the great response to our Times Advocate cookbook and the compliments that came with it, we are asking for your favourite recipes again. We would like to print these recipes in the newspaper on a weekly basis. This time, we would like you to add some extra information. Davis SAINTSBURY St. Patrick's celebrated "The I�aptism of the L'rd" at 11:00 a.m. January 8, the first Sunday after Epiphany. Fol- lowing the processional hymn "As with gladness men of old", Rev. Stephen Emery spoke to the chil- dren about Jesus being baptized by John. The Sunday School children went to their classes following the hymn "Jesus Bids Us Shine." The Epiphany of the Lord, Janu- ary 6, and the arrival of the Maji, and the season of Epiphany begin- ning January 7 and its symbols, was the lesson. Sunday, January 15, second Sun- day after Epiphany, St. Patrick's Morning Prayer service will he held at 8:30 a.m. Scripture readings will be Isaiah 62:1-5, I Corinthians 12:1-11, Psalm 36:5-10, The Holy Gospel 2:1-11. St. Patrick's Annual Vestry meet- ing is to be held Sunday, January 22, following the 11:00 a.m. ser- vice. Personals Earl Greenlee was a lunch guest with Mary Davis this week. Crystal Davis participated with the Exeter Tweens in the Cam- bridge ringette tournament in Kitchener on the weekend, arriving home Sunday with a gold medal. ZURICH - The Auxiliary of Blue Water Rest Home visited on Tues- day evening with their new chair- person, Donna Klopp, in charge. • Pastor Ross Thompson, St. Pe- ter's Lutheran Church, installed the new slate of officers, as follows: Klopp, president; Mary Ellen Gingerich, past president; Martha Ducharme, vice president; Marlen Gingerich, secretary; Mary Du- charme, treasurer; Verda Baechle, Liaison; Mary (Calvin) Gingerich social convener; Grace Martin, as.i sistant social convener; Gertrude Fleischauer, visiting convener; Het - en Otterbein, membership and Ir>a Neeb and Laureen Corrivau, audi- tors. Mary Ellen Gingerich was given a past president's pin by Carmel Sweeney and she gave her presi- dent's pin to Klopp. Entertainment was provided by Lois Hodgins on the piano and vio- lin, Mozart Gelinas on banjo and Lloyd Otterbein on guitar. Lois and lIarvey Hodgins performed the heel and toe and a waltz for the resi- dents. Jean Armstrong and Hodgins also showed their skills on the dance floor. Nelson Howe, resi- dent, also got the itch and played a few of his favourite tunes with Ge- linas and Otterbein. Tea biscuits, cheese and refreshments were served by Maria Mathonia, Mary Ducharme and Theo Vandenboom. Tuesday morning the grade five students of St. Boniface School. Zurich, visited the Home to help their resident buddy make leis and fancy doilies for the resident/staff pot supper to be held January 18. Each year the staff prepare a supper for the residents and this year the theme is a "Beach Party". A little cool for a bikini, but with a little down home cooking and some foot stomping music, things will soon warm up. Wednesday afternoon tea was served by Gladys .Gingerich and daughter, Cathy Shantz. The residents look forward to their January birthday party with Dashwood United Church on Janu- ary 10.
