Ontario. She has a little sister who is constantly hug ging her and wrecking her things. Stacey. was -so excit-_ ed because it was only one week until Christmas and she was out of school for two weeks. •• • One bright morning Stacey -went outside to play in the •snow before her little sister, Allison woke up. -When she got out she saw. that her friend Luke was waiting for_her: "Want to build a snowfort Stacey:'" . asked Luke. "What's the point when Allison is just going. to wreck it"." Stacey said as she picked up some snow and_rolledit into a hall with a sneaky smile on her face. As soon'as Luke realized what Stacey was doing he did the same. Then Stacey started to make. more and .more snowballs. Just then Luke threw a snowhall at•Stacey. It hit.her-right in -the race. Before Luke -had enough time to make another:snowball Stacey was firing snowballs at him: As quickly as he could l.uke ran around lQ;the side of Stacey's house. When he -got there he started making snowhalls. Luke _. was skilled at this. for he had lots of experience. When he was making a snowball, he heard .someone coming behind him, :so.he turned around and without even looking he hit Mrs. Tides in the face. "Stacey." _ exclaimed Mrs. Tides (who at the time was only wear- ing a night gown). "Yes mother?".said Stacey in a .small. frightened voice. "Did you hit me with that snowball?" "No." she said. "it was him. -Luke." - "That's. it Luke: "get out of here. you've. caused enough trouble for the day." - When Mrs: Tides had left. -Luke -invited Stacey.to his house t,i play a game of checkers. When Stacey got home she went straight to her room. She -had lost five games of checkers. That's the worst she had ever done. As -soon .is she got in -her room she noticed that her lit- tle sister was playing with her cars. Stacey had to share her room with her sister. She thought this was the _ worst thing that could ever happen. When she came in her bedroom today, there was one thing that really _stood out it was that her most prized possession was broken. Her doll's head was torn off and her two kgs and arms were scattered all over her bedroom. Stacey went t•driiu.: with rage, anger and frustration. She ran downstairs crying and howling at the top of her lungs. Mr. Tides cane to see what the problem was. "Dad liti>k what she. idid. The little brat tore Snuffy to pieces." Stacey said between sniffs. (Snuffy was her doll's name.) Mr. -Tides tried to. calm Stacey down but it was hopeless. • Stacey was so happy that tomorrow was Christmas (actually it was only three hours away). Stacey was jumping around the house singing songs. "1'11 go•get the mail." said Mr. Tides in a not.so happy .voice. Allison stepped in the room and said, "Nobody likes me, nobody cares about me, nobody will play with me." "Well! What a speech! You could he inpub Iic sti speaking sometime." replied Mr. Tides. "Whene's Sia old enough," Stacey said with a laugh "Baby". "Stacey that was not nice. Say sorry to your Tittle sister," Mrs. Tides said. . "Sorry." said Stacey in a low mumble. "So who's up • for peanut brittle?" asked Mr. Tides who was famous • for his peanut brittle. All the teachers liked it at Stacey's school. Or that`s what-t1iey said. There were - three shouts for the peanut brittle. In a little while Stacey had to go to bed. 11' you're a kid and you•get a lot of toys at Christmas -then you'll know how hard it is to get to sleep. • The next morning Stacey got up at 5 a.m. Of course her little sister had already been in her parents room for about -15 minutes. Her parents were not too happy about being up so early s_o -they were pretty grumpy.. Stacey came running out of her room yelling with joy. Stacey found:in her stocking a pair of socks (which she. did not like). two big_ candy canes, a knitting set and she found her doll Snuffy all stitched together, Because. .itwas so Messy Stacey figured that Allison had done the stitching. hut she was still really happy. She went up to Stacey. almost gave her a kiss. but then she gave her a hug. Next. Stacey. Mr: Tides and Mrs. Tides went into the living room and there were piles of presents. about ten for each person. Allison came running out, when she saw all. the•presents under the tree she stopped and yelled -"I gel all the presents." . • "That probably woke up a few neighbors," remarked Mr. Tides. Every present was opened except fine, which had Stacey's name on it. When -Stacey opened it. she tound - . a letter that had printing on it. It read: 010011e/u@- . "Wow a puppy!" exclaimed. Stacey. "I've always wanted one." And_it Gifts awarded for perfect attendance By H.
