Huron Tourism Association (HTA) has established' the new executive for . 1998. Newly chosen•Presidcnt Cliff I;divarcts-along with Vice-president . Laurel Armstrong will provide guidance for their hoard and 110 association .members. The ,HTA Board members for 1997-1998 are: .Joan Karsiens, Cliff Edwards.. Syhillc Schaufler. County Planning •and Development .Departmcnt will continue their tourism • development , for the upcoming season, along with implementing -a review of,activities. and • marketing promotions , to. extend the seasons in the county, thereby contributing to stronger seasonal employment. The key tool of the marketing strategy is the Huron 'County Travel guide, a'publication in wide' distribution to visitors exploring the region. This travel puhlication is a co-operative production of the Huron County Planning and Development Department and the Huron Tourism Association. For 1998-99. the International Plowing; Match ' will be involved and promotions will be featured as .we prepare for this mammonth event in September 1999. near Dashwood. Tourism and related. businesses are listed for no charge in the pages of the,travel guide and Huron TourisAssociation members are given enhanced listings and HTA logos to denote their support ror the tourism association. A total of $10.000. in weekly cash , draws, prizes and monthly grand prizes are, drawn. Winners are notified directly by letter. and their, names ,arc-,also;.(}p,J 1%sfl thc end of every month in"Pdeus, county -wide puhlication. As well, winners' names are 're-entered into remaining draws throughout the year. This $15, Huron County calendar has been'a popular project for community • development for HTA . and ;,the Hurtin County Planning and Development Department. The. Huron County . Songs of the season performed at Blue Water Rest Home by many community groups ZURICH - •;lt;s a Wonderful Life' starring James Stewart' and Donna Reid was one .of the movies watched by resident of Blue Water Rest Home in the past two weeks. , The Auxiliary entertained the residents on December 2 with Mary Lou Denomme as Chair and Grace Martin 'as 'pianist. Mary Lou read a poem entitled "Meaning of Christmas" and Cynthia Lazaro sang some solos. .Margaret Gingericlt lcd the singing of Christmas carols..Santa Claus look a moment out oi••his busy schedule to visit the Home,that evening, and with the help of•Auxiliary members managed to find a gift for each resi- dent in his magic sack. .On December I 1 members of the St. Peter's Catholic Women's League ,visited the Home to host the Decemhcr Birthday Party. Russian floral are one of her specialities and she performs her art on boxes, trays, etc. For many residents this was the first time they had been exposed to the craft, , Detember 9 the Grand Cove Singers sang. old fashioned • Christmas songs to the residents . under the direction of Anne Didier. Chcfir members arrived with red Santa hats to put everyone in a sea- sonal festive mood. Anne. Kathleen, Maggs, Mel Norton and Don Overholt sang solos and thc resi- dents joined in singing many of their favorite carols. In the 'evening, the Seaforth Harmony Hi-Lites, under the direc- tion of Marg Whitemore enter- tained the residents with many selections. After the performance the group socialized in the Lounge. Decemberl 1, the Youth Group of St. Peter's and Si.
