Dabble and Greg'Henderson. Exet-
er. poured it on in the last five min- -

Chiefs embarrassed over
play vs. shorthanded Aylmer
EXETER — Though they can put it into, the 'W' column, the Ex-
eter Juvenile Chiefs hockey club .aren't happy with Saturday's 5-3
home win over Aylmer. t - •
Aylmer arrived with a light line-up and the Chiefs took advantage
of the short-handed team by•running up a 5-0 lead. But Exeter fell
apart in the third and let Aylmer climb back into the game.
"you just don't play the same when the other teatn is 'short,"
Chiefs manager John Raser'•erg 'said. "You don't hit them. you
don't rough it up with them and you play down to their level as they
tire. Because they are short the referee is less. likely to penalize them
and it's not good for -your team to play that,
kind of lethargic contest.".
The Chiefs played better but lost on the
road to •New Hamburg on Thursday 4-3. As-
sistant coach Mike Soldan said the team was
short several key players.
The teams played a scoreless first period
and New Hamburg scored first early in the
second. Exeter responded 13 seconds -later on
a goal by Chris Reaburn from Jeremy Stew-
art and Marty deBruyn.
New Hainburg pulled ahead 3-1 by the end of the second. Exeter
battled back with a goal but New Hamburg scored with only -55 sec-
onds left in the. game. The Chiefs again pulled to within a goal of
New Hamburg with goalie Dennis Roth on the bench in favor of an
extra attacker but time ran out. deBruyn and Steve Rasenberg scored
Exeter's last two goals with assists going to Ben Kaak, Byron Eller-
ington and Rasenberg.
The Chiefs have pulled into second place in their division and next
host Langton at 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 20.
"You just
don't play
the sante
when the
other team
is short."
