noise and laughter on Fri-

Men's Club sponsored an
evening of entertainment,
games, magic and a visit
from Santa Claus. Philip

H -P hospitals co-operation attains new level
EXETER - Over the past few
weeks the eight Hospitals of Huron
Perth have moved their discussions
of co-operation and consolidation
to a new level by agreeing to form
a formal partnership and creating a
special committee comprised of
three directors of each Hospital.
This working group is referred to as
the Joint Executive Committee and
is proceeding to develop and
implement the consolidated
governance partnership among the
eight hospitals. It is expected this
partnership would be in place
before the fiscal year which begins
April 1, 1998. Partnership among
the Hospitals will greatly facilitate
operational efficiencies in the
management, program support and
administration areas of each
organization.
Additionally, because of the
Provincial Government's initiatives
in reshaping rural health care
delivery, the Hospitals are working
closely with the District Health
Council to develop and implement
the rural health plan for the two
counties. This later process will
involve careful input from all
health professionals and will be a
response to rural planning
standards that the government is
developing in conjunction with the
Ontario Hospital Association.
The Joint Executive Committee
is chaired by Dr. Kerry Blagrave
(Chair of Listowel Memorial
Hospital). The agenda developed
for this group calls for meetings
about every three weeks through to
March. It is anticipated that full and
open discussion will result in a
proposal that provides the benefits
of co-operation, meets the needs of
each community and provides
quality health care that meets the •
needs of all residents served by
Huron Perth Hospitals.
