Because the township didn't replace road department's Hugh Davis when he retired earlier this year, existing staff have had to take up the paperwork slack, French said, adding the road employees are now looking after the Granton waterworks. French recogpized the Lucan Memorial Community Centre Booster Club for all the fundraising it does and urged new councillors "Don't make promises to ratepayers. Remember, you only have one vote at the council meetings." Lucan's new council. Lucan's new council was sworn in at its inaugural meeting in the vil- lage council chambers on Monday. In his inaugural address, Benner said council should formulate a vision for Lucan, solicit more public input, deal with pending downloading from the province, make sure future amalgamation is decided by the people of Lucan and there be free and open discussion that looks for constructive criticism. Benner called for each council meeting's agenda be posted ahead of time at public places, that meeting minutes be available at the library as soon as possible, that a village web site be created so agendas and minutes would be readily available and that councillors develop new strategies for listening and speaking to people. He also plans on opening the council cham- bers to the public the first Saturday morning of each month so he and other councillors if they choose can meet with anyone that has a question or comment. The first project for the new Exeter council on Monday night was to enjoy some cake fol- lowing the declaration of oaths for office. Ready for action from left are: Councillor Joe Ho- gan, Deputy -Reeve Dave Urlin, Reeve Roy Triebner, Councillor George Robertson, Mayor Ben Hoogenboom, Councillor Robert Drummond and Councillor Pete Armstrong. Tinney Redhead With love and support from their parents, families and friends, Rents Marie Redhead and Harlen Dwayne Tinney exchanged their vows before Barbara Western (Pajuk) of Sarnia, on October 11, 1997 at Oakwood in Grand Bend. Julie and Mozart Gelinas Jr. provided musical duets, while Glen McGregor played the bag pipes. The bride's sister Carrie Redhead, London was Maid of Honor, The atten- dants included Maria Kachaedes, Kingston, Kim Milne, Penetanguishene, Sue Anne Soldan, London and Deanna Olmstead, Exeter. The groom's brother Darren Tinney, Bathurst, New Brunswick was Best Man and "Master. of Ceremonies" dur- ing the dinner. Groomsmen included Dave Mach, Stayner, Brent Nichal, Mississauga, Dave Dalrymple, Exeter and Glenn Clark, London. Nathalie Noel of Bathurst, New Brunswick was Hostess. After a trip to a resort in Cuba, Rene and Harlen are residing in Toronto. They wish to thank everyone for making their day so special.
