There's more evidence showing that like red wine,
white wine is healthy for your heart. The phenols- in
these wines help reduce clogging of the blood ves-
sels which can lead to. heart attacks. This evidence
helps explain the "French paradox" which says that
even though the French consume high fat diets they
have`'a low rate of mortality from heart disease. It
could be the wine.
Sleep apnra. where a person actually stops breathing for a short time
while sleeping, is now being linked to an increased risk of automobile
crashes-. Those with mild to moderate sleep apnea were up to seven
times more likely to be involved in a traffic crash. Sleep apnea is a seri-
ous condition. See your doctor if you suspect you suffer from this mala-
dy.
The chloroflurocarbon (CFC) propellants in asthma inhalers damage the
earth's ozone layer. A new propellant called hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) has
been discovered and It does not damage the ozone layer. All CFC's will
be eliminated from use by 2005. Incidentally, one molecule of CFC de-
stroys 100,000 molecules of the ozone layer.
If you shouldn't be taking A.S.A. (Aspirin) or salicylate products, beware
of products like Alka-Selzer and Pepto-Bismol. Both contain salicylates
and this fact isn't always known.

Women's Institute spoke about their
experiences in Manitoba after the
disastrous flood earlier this year.
Under Ihe direction of the
Mennonite Disaster Relief Service,
they helped clear the mountains of
debris and sludge from. damaged
homes. They stayed in rooms at the
University of Manitoba during their
trip. Brenda Hennesey thanked the
women for sharing their experi-
ences:

Rider, President Elaine Bogart
called the meeting to order. The
sorority Christmas Party will be
held December 2 at the Masonic
Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. for a
social time followed by dinner at 7
p.m. Members are requested to •
bring a donation of canned goods
for the Christmas Bureau or per-
sonal items for Phoenix House.
