Chiefs clip Langton 3-1
LANGTON - The Exeter Juvenile Chiefs hockey team 'fid all
their scoring,in the first period on their way to a 3-1 win over host
Lane -,,n on Saturday.
Dan rinkbeiner, Jason Becker and Blake Schade scored Exeter's
goals with Schade, Finkbeiner, Jan Becker and Byron Ellerington
picking up assists. • r,
"We came out of the gates fast even after a long two-hour bus •
ride," Chiefs G.M. John Rasenberg said.
The team put in a solid checking effort led by acting captain John
Rutten, Rasenberg said. Rutten was kicked out of the game and giv-
en a game suspension and Jeremy Stewart was given a two -game
suspension for fighting during a second period fracas.
"We were missing a few regulars and the rest of the boys stepped
up and played their game," Rasenberg said, adding the goaltending
was solid but wasn't tested much on the night.
The Chiefs are now 3-2-1 in the Southern Counties Juvenile .
League standings. This week: Exeter travels to New Hamburg to-
morrow at 8:15 p.m.. then heads to Cayuga on Saturday, an 8 p.m.
start, and visits Port Stanley on Monday at 7 p.m.
