successful
bazaar
MOUNT CARMEL - Our
Lady, of Mount Carmel C.W.L.
had another successful bazaar on
November 8. President Diane
Kaak would like to thank
everyone who helped , in any
way. The quilt • winner was
Hazel Broad of Grand Bend. the
quilt rack went to Dara Hartman
of Dashwood and the grocery
hamper was won by Charlene
Finkbeiner of Dashwood.
The .November meeting
followed Mass and the Rosary.
Guest speaker - was- officer
'George Finch of Exeter OPP
who spoke on and showed a
video on. "Women •Travelling
Alone". Helen Koricina thanked
officer Finch for a . very
informative presentation.
President Diane Kaak opened
the meeting following•the lune!)
break. Helene Regier gave the
spiritual reading. Diane- Kaak,
presented Fr: • Paul with a
Spiritual Advisors- Pin. minutes
. were read by Betty Cronyn.
Barb Hartman • gave- - the
treasurer's-.• ' report. . and
correspondence was. read , by
Barb Dietrich.
Deanry reports were given by
'Diane Kaak, Helen Regier, Nell
• McCann. Josephige Dietrich and
Theresa Larkin. Kaak presented
Sharon Blake with a 25th
anniversary plaque. The
December. Chrismas- dinner
metting.will be Pizza Delight,
Tuesday.- December ..at 6:30

our little community will enjoy
reading the news from this wee
hamlet thirteen- kilometres west of
Exeter.
The congregation -of Zion-Lutther-
an has been (vaiting anxiously for
'several weeks for the birth of Pastor
John and t%4rs. Elizabeth Trembu- -
lak's second -child. -The thoughts
and prayers of the community= will
be'with 'John, Elizabeth and big -
sister -to -be Cara as they await,this
blessed event.
- Many• of Dashwood's, citizens -
have begun •decorating for • the.
•Christmas -eason. Of special note is
the Reschke family. who have put
up a lovely ght display.- Murray
and Anne Reid have been. hard at
work creating a new holiday scene.

THAMES ROAD - The
November meeting of the U.C.W.
was held on Armistice Day at
Elimville with 40 women in atten-
dance.
The meeting table had. a cloth.
cross with poppies on it, a flag
draping the.tahlc. an open Bible, lit
candles. greenery, pictures of_sol-.
diers, and an honor roll. -
June Stewart read. "In Flanders.
Fields" while Marjorie Johns
played quiet music. Stewart wel-
comed everyone and gave the
theme "Remembrance:"
Anne Bray read lhe call to wor-
ship and gave a reading.
Doris Elford, read scripture and.
Sandra Rowe led in prayer. The
offering was received by Anne
Bray and Sandra Rows with offer-
tory prayer hy,Doris Elford. •
A video on residential schools
entitled .'Wrds Are' Not Enough"
was shown..
The roil call was answered by' a
war time reme'mhra ice: Dianef.
Jeffery read the minutes of the
meeting and committee reports

A newsworthy event occured re-
cently in the kitchen of Frieda Kel-
ler. Miring a garne of crockinole,

'sive. She was soundly beaten . by

The church service on Sunday
began with the singing of.the Introit
and Beatrice Dawson lit the Christ
Candle.
Sharon Lynn gave the welcome
and commented -on the quilt wall
hanging named 'Eternal. Life'.
made by Margaret Hem, which was
-hung in the front of the pulpit.
Dawson gave an 'in Memoriam',
Margaret .Stewart told the chil
dren a story. Two..anthems were
sung by Shirley Kerslake and
Marilyn Vandenbussche entitled "i
Wish You Peace" and "One Little
Candle".accompanied by Marjorie
,.Johns on'the piano. . • -
, Beatrice Dawson read scriptures:

gave the meditation. A candle light-
ing,ceremony was presented -by

and Erin Richardson.

Life and work of the church
Messengers -will _ meet at
Elimville on November 19 from 7
to 8 p.m. Bring a loonie. The
Messenger group ,is children from
senior kindergarten to grade.3.
The Youth Group will meet on'
November 20 at Thames Road at
5:15 p.m. for supper. A S3 donation -
is being asked to cover costs. Each
youth will bring home two crafts.
. Doors open at 6:30 .p.m. -on
.November .21 for the Time. Talent
and Treasure Auction at •Kirkton=
,Woodham Community Centre. The
auction will, start at 7:30'p.m. If
you are having a hard time coming .
Sisters holiday in Florida

SHiPKA = Annie Zielman. accompanied by her sister-in;law Alberdina
Westerhof. from Holland;, have returned from a ewo-week holiday in
• Orlando. Florida. They flew down. and -drove home; with Gerald and Mary
'Ellen Zielman and family who were holidaying there. Special outings
• included going to Disneyland. touring the MGM lot; a tour of_where the
Golden. Girls and Gilligan's' island were produced..Epcot.Centre and the
Magic Kingdom. They also enjoyed seeing the Kennedy Space Centre.
Elizabeth Coghtin and daughters Tiffany and Tatyana of Atwood were
• Sunday visitors, with Ken and Marg Baker; .
The euchre parties have begun at Shipka beginning Tuesday night.

Agnes Ann (Coleman) MacGregor died November 3 in her 42nd year.
She was the daughter of Stuart and the late Wesley Coleman. Her grandfa-
ther Frank Coleman. was born and raised and attended school in Hay
Township. She is survived by her, husband Bruce. her mother Stuart •
Coleman and a brother George.
Leota Snyder. Annie Zielman and Alberdina Westerhof were supper
guests with Katie Vincent at Grand Bend last Thursday. .
Hugh and Annie Morenz visited with Art and Mary Finlayson of
Seaforth recently.

Students have been back in classes for a week and.a half since the
two weeks "vacation" due to the teachers' strike. Classes are back to
normal considering all the work there is to catch up on. The semester
is now -more than half over with about four weeks until the Christmas.
break and little more than seven weeks until exams, •
The girls basketball season is.coming to:the end. as well as boys
Volleyball. Boys basketball practices have.already begun and girls
.,volleyball tryouts, will start scion.
