Hawks clipped by Mitchell
MITCHELL - The Exeter Jr. D
Hawks hockey club couldn't get off
the ground at Mitchell on Saturday
and lost 6-3.
Jeff Glavin notched a pair of
goals for the Hawks in the losing
effort.
Exeter hung on to win 4-3 over
host Lambeth on Nov. 5. Exeter
goals -came from Ben McCann,
Christian Stuckless, Sean McCann
and Jeff Glover with assists from
Dan Taylor (2), Jeff Cambell, S.
McCann (2), B. McCann, Jeff Fink-
beiner and Bill Hodge.
Exeter goaltender Matt Fawcett
turned away 26 shots on his way to
the win.
Revington suited up only 13
players for the game due to some
injuries, players away at college
writing exams and there was an Ex-
eter midget hockey game that night. -
Due to Lucan's up and down
week, Exeter remains in top spot in
the Morenz Division with 20
points. Exeter next hosts North
Middlesex on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
and travels to Port Stanley on Sat-
urday.
Irish losegrudge match
ILDERTON - While the game was a benefit for Ilderton Minor
Hockey, players on both the Lucan Jr. D Irish and the Thamesford
Trojans•weren't in a giving mood.
Thamesford bullied. the Irish and limped away home with a 6-3
victory. Irish goals came from Mike Jaremchenko, George Stephens
and Scott Wheatley with assists from Greg Henderson (2), Mike
Robb. Jeremy Lamhourn and Gary Hudson.
Thamesford players sat in the penalty box for a total 60 minutes
plus two game misconducts for fighting. Lucan's Andy Marshall
and Wheatley got game misconducts in those fights on top of the
Irish's 44 penalty minutes.
Irish coach Jason Bukala said the game wasn't as rough as the
game sheet might suggest because the _officials were calling every-
thing to avoid another donnybrook like the last time Lucan faced off
versus Thamesford.
The highlight of the game was a penalty shot awarded to Hudson
late in the second period after he was hauled down on a clear break-
away. Hudson missed out on the chance to bring Lucan to within a
goal of the Trojans. .
On Wednesday. Lucan doubled Seaforth 4-2 in a home game. Lu -
can goals came from Dan. Hardick, Robb, Hudson and Jeremy Hud-
son with helpers going to Marshall, Mark Phillips (2). Pat Conlin,
Hudson and Wheatley.
The game became ugly in the third period with fighting majors
and game misconducts going to Robb, Hardick and Phillips.
Lucan remains two points behind Exeter for the Morenz Division
lead. The Irish host Belmont tonight at 8:15 p.m.. travel to Mitchell
on Friday at 8:35 p.m. and visit Lambeth on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Chiefs grind Acton to a draw
ACTON - The Exeter Juvenile
Chiefs hockey team literally battled
host Acton to a 2-2 tie on Saturday.
"The contest was a scrappy affair
with some - questionable of-
ficiating," assistant coach Mike
Soldan said of the game.
Exeter general manager John Ra-
senherg questioned the officials
over several 10 -minute and game
misconducts handed out in the
third. Rasenherg said John Rutten
was given -a misconduct simply for
being in the crowd during a scuffle.
The Chiefs gave up the first goal
during a sloppy first period, letting
the right-winger walk out of the
corner to the circle and put one
high over goaltender Nathan Hern.

Correction
Brian Ford. 10, included eight
strikes and two spares as he bowled
his best ever'Lf61 bantam high sin-
gle game at Zurich Town and
Country Lanes recently.
Acton's aggressiveness in the first
put Exeter players off their games
and resulted in several penalties he-
.ing called against them. -
Exeter's Marty deBruyn tied it up'
early in the second with assists
from Dan Finkbeiner and Ben
Kaak. deBruyn scored Exeter's oth•
-
er marker late the second after he
caught Acton on a •line change,
rushed down the right side and
deked past Acton's goalie.
Acton tied it up late in the third
after the misconducts were handed
out. Though Exeter peppered Ac-
ton's goalie with several shots over
the last four minutes of the game
(including one -that made it past the
goalie but not over the goal -line),
they couldn't notch the winner.
Coach Kevin MCArter •said he
was pleased with the play 'of right-
-winger Rob Morrissey who de-
livered several heavy hits deep in
the Acton zone. Soldan said he was
impressed with Rutten who took' a
lot of heat from Acton but didn't
retaliate. •
The Chiefs are now 2-2-1 in the
Southern Counties Juvenile league
standings.
The Chiefs next motor to Lang-
ton on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Exeter
doesn't play at home again till Dec.
6 at 8:30 p.m., a rematch vs. Acton.
